This month, we’re celebrating two women who have become such an important part of Carter Law Group over the last year: Kyndal Hetmer and TaNia Robinson.

Kyndal stepped into litigation and immediately became someone our attorneys and clients can rely on. Organized, steady, thoughtful, and constantly willing to jump into the hard stuff, she helps keep complicated cases moving forward while making clients feel supported through some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

TaNia is often one of the very first voices people hear when they contact our firm, and she handles that responsibility with so much compassion and care. Intake is not easy work. It requires patience, empathy, boundaries, and the ability to navigate people through incredibly emotional situations. She does all of that while somehow still making everyone around her laugh.

This year has brought growth, change, challenges, and a lot of long days. Both of them have helped shape this team in ways bigger than their job descriptions.

To celebrate their one-year anniversaries, we gave them bracelets that say “Fight Like A Mother” because that mindset lives in the work they do every single day.

We’re lucky to have them. ❤️

We’re still incredibly proud of this result and the women who had the courage to see it through.

A unanimous jury awarded $1.5 million to two former in-house attorneys at LSU after finding retaliation tied to concerns about gender pay equity.

Cases like this matter not just for the clients involved, but for the legal community as a whole. Speaking up about inequity inside the profession takes real courage.

As Amy Carter said in the article: “This verdict reflects the power of persistence, accountability, and having the courage to keep fighting for what is right.”

Proud of our clients. Proud of our team at Carter Law Group. Proud of the work.

We spent Cinco de Mayo painting pots, planting succulents, and setting goals for May and the rest of the year.

It was fun, a little chaotic, and honestly a good reminder that intentional culture matters. Especially in a field that can be heavy and emotionally draining sometimes.

The people here work incredibly hard. Taking time to reconnect, laugh, and talk about where we’re headed together matters more than people realize.

Last week was a big week for our firm, and we are thrilled with the results.

On Friday, a unanimous jury in the Eastern District of Louisiana returned a $1.5 million verdict for our clients, Katherine Muslow and Meredith Cunningham in their retaliation case against LSU.

Kathy and Meredith are attorneys. They understood the system they were up against. They knew how hard this would be. And they chose to move forward anyway.

This case was not a straight path. It was dismissed on summary judgment. It went up to the Fifth Circuit. It came back down on very narrow issues. And still, they kept going.

That matters.

Because cases like this are not just about one moment or one decision. They are about whether people are willing to keep pushing when it would be easier to walk away. Whether they are willing to have their experiences questioned, minimized, and picked apart in public. Whether they are willing to trust the process, even when the process gets hard.

Kathy and Meredith kept fighting for what they knew was right.

And today, a jury heard them.

This verdict does not undo what they went through. But it does something important. It says that their voices mattered. That their experiences were real.
That accountability still exists.

We are incredibly proud of them.

We are also proud of the team that stood beside them. This case was tried by our Managing Shareholder, Amy Carter, and our Head of Litigation, Kassi Yukevich, who tried an incredibly case against incredibly stacked odds.

This is why we do this work.

Not because it is easy. Not because it is quick. But because sometimes, after all of it, the system works the way it is supposed to.

And when it does, it matters.

Amy Carter has been named a 2026 D Magazine Best Lawyer (again!).

If you’ve worked with her, you know why. She’s sharp, honest, and shows up for her clients in a way that actually matters. No fluff, no posturing, just really good lawyering and a lot of heart behind it.

It’s always nice to see her work recognized, even when it’s not surprising.

Grateful to get to build this with you, Amy!

“We investigated and took appropriate corrective action.”

It sounds right. It reads well in a policy. And a lot of employers assume that’s enough.

But under Texas law, “corrective action” isn’t about checking a box—it’s about whether the employer actually stopped the harassment, prevented it from happening again, and protected the employee who spoke up.

Too often, we see responses that look good on paper but don’t go far enough in practice—delayed investigations, minimal discipline, or solutions that leave the reporting employee just as exposed as before.

Amy Carter breaks down what corrective action really requires, where employers tend to get it wrong, and what that means when these cases are evaluated.

Texas law requires your employer to take "immediate and appropriate corrective action" when they know, or should have known, that workplace harassment is

At Carter Law Group, the client experience starts the moment someone walks through our door or reaches out for help. For many people, that first point of contact is TaNia Robinson

TaNia brings patience, clarity, and genuine care to every conversation. She understands that when someone contacts an employment lawyer, they are often navigating one of the most stressful moments of their professional life. Taking the time to listen, answer questions, and make sure clients understand what comes next is not just part of the job. It is part of how we do things here.

Recently, a client shared in a review that from the moment they were greeted by TaNia, they knew they were finally in the right place and felt heard for the first time.

That is exactly the standard we aim for.

We are incredibly grateful to have TaNia on our team and proud of the work she does every day to make sure our clients feel supported from the very beginning.
