𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗹. I was born here. My wife and I raised our family here. I began my law enforcement career at the Slidell Police Department, starting as a patrolman and working my way up to Chief of Police.

I believe in Slidell and in our people, but we have work to do. Our flooding and infrastructure need immediate attention, the blighted and abandoned buildings must improve, and we need more high-paying jobs while supporting the businesses we already have. We can accomplish all these things the same way we brought our crime rate to a 10-year low.

𝗠𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: make Slidell a place where families never want to leave. I'd be honored to be your mayor and have your vote on October 11.

While these awards are blessings, and are very much appreciated, having the opportunity to make lasting improvements to our legal system on behalf of the most vulnerable, and to know the very many kids and families and see them blossom into happy and safe adults are the greatest rewards. 47 years, and over 3 million miles---I'm just getting started.

Covington attorney Richard Ducote was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 30th International Summit on Violence Abuse and Trauma held last month in San Diego.

I am so very honored to have received these two lifetime achievement awards in the last few months. Thank you to IVAT and Alliance for Hope International, and to all of you who have shared this 47 year journey with me, with all of the struggles, demands, disappointments, personal persecution, and successes. It has all been worth it, and I would have been lost without all of the love, support, hard work, encouragement, tolerance, and dedication of my wonderful family, my exceptional coworkers, concerned and principled legislators, professional colleagues, and advocates, --- and the very many extraordinary courageous parents and kids nationwide for whom I was so happy to advocate!

Thanks for all of the kind comments! Read this article. In the 2024 legislature, I helped write R.S. 9:331.3 (Sponsored by Rep. Peter Egan) which restricted what child custody evaluators can do so we can avoid the problems facing family courts in Colorado & other states. It has been a game-changer in our family courts since.

Yesterday, I learned that I was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Alliance for Hope International, one of the premier organizations devoted to protecting family violence victims, for my 47 years advocating in the courtroom, in the legislature, and in the community for vulnerable abuse victims. I very much appreciate this honor, and thank all of you for your support. At the same time, I am continuously frustrated in this effort by the difficulty encountered in our own local courts which seem often to be uninformed or misguided, and so reluctant to enforce the excellent laws we have in Louisiana to safeguard endangered women and children. April is Child Abuse Prevention month, so let's all be ever vigilant. Thanks for reading this.

Congratulations to Kim Carver & Peter Egan, our newest state representatives! They won only because they were the far better and extremely more qualified candidates in their races-- not because of sinister forces as one loser is claiming. I can't wait to work with them in our legislature.
Congratulations also to Larry Rolling, our new parish councilman.
Finally, Kathi & I are saddened by our friend Warren Montgomery's death, and we hope his wonderful family finds comfort in memories of his life very well lived.
