Earlier today, I received an Order admitting me pro hac vice (PHV) to the New Jersey Federal Court. That Order required me to pay a PHV fee of $250. I asked CoPilot how to pay it. It gave me step-by-step instructions on how to pay it. I followed that, but it did not work. I informed CoPilot that it did not work, and CoPilot gave me all kinds of new instructions to do it, which I KNEW would not work. Finally, I asked Gemini the same question, and it informed me that I was not allowed to pay the fee and that my sponsor needed to do it. I informed CoPilot about this. Initially, CoPilot would not agree with Gemini, but finally, after wasting around 45 minutes of my time, it did (see screenshot).

Lesson learned - AI also appears to have an ego, like a smart friend who will never admit he is wrong and is loath to admit any fault...

July 13 was the deadline for me to file my first PETITION FOR A WRIT OF CERTIORARI in the US Supreme Court.

After I filed electronically (as I have done in every court below the US Supreme Court for years), I found the following in the Rules:

"The petition and the appendix required by Rule 14 must be presented on paper that is 6 1⁄8 by 9 1⁄4 inches and not less than 60 pounds in weight as stated in Rule 33.1(a) and (c)....

The petition and appendix must be bound firmly in at least two places along the left margin so as to make an easily opened volume. No part of the text may be obscured by the binding. Saddle stitching or perfect binding is preferred. Staples
may be used, with at least two along the left margin, covered with tape. Under no circumstances may spiral, plastic, metal, or string bindings be used. Rule 33.1(c). Forty booklet-format copies of a petition are required. Rule 33.1(f)."

The US Supreme Court still seems to be living in the 18th Century! I thought I had to abandon the Petition as there was no way I could produce forty booklet-format copies with these odd-sized pages as required by the deadline.

Luckily, I managed to speak to a friendly analyst/clerk at the Supreme Court who provided a solution. She said, "Just mail some papers within the next 3 days. Once I receive it, I will send you a Notice of Deficiency, which will give you 60 more days to send these booklets"

I did as instructed. Once I have the Notice of Deficiency, I will have 2 months to figure out which Supreme Court document printer (yes, there are businesses that do this specialized work) can do this work for me at a reasonable rate. One of them has already quoted me a price over $5000 to do this work!

BTW - while trademarking this, I had to correct the USPTO Examiner's misconception that Tikka did not mean chicken but it was a spicy dip that could be eaten along with any food item (including chicken).
