New day. New opportunities.

Great connecting with some absolute killers at the CCC event at Ponce City Market in Atlanta.

Always good getting around people who are building, growing, and making s**t happen.

Now back to work.

The roller coaster of emotions as a business owner...

It’s an everyday thing.

If you’re crazy enough to start, be stubborn enough to keep going.

Keep reinvesting in yourself, your education, and your business. Keep learning. Keep adapting. Keep pushing through the s**t nobody sees.

Eventually, you’ll get to a place most people only dream about.

And when someone says, “Must be nice...”

Yeah. It is fu***ng nice.

Because you didn’t see the risk, the stress, the sleepless nights, the failures, the pivots, or all the bulls**t it took to get here.

Keep going!

The faster you turn failure into another attempt the faster you collect the feedback everyone else is still trying to predict

If you feel stuck you might just need a clearer picture of who you want to become

If you aren't happy with the income you're making, I think the first question should be:

What can I do to become more valuable?

Learn a new skill.

Get better at the skills you already have.

Take on more responsibility.

Become better at sales, leadership, communication, problem solving, whatever it is that makes you harder to replace.

The reality is, nobody owes you a certain income just because you work hard or because you've been somewhere for a long time.

Compensation usually follows value.

And yes, sometimes you can become more valuable and still work for someone who doesn't recognize it. Fine.

Now you have more skills, more experience and more leverage to go find an opportunity that does.

I've always looked at income this way:

If I want to make more money, I need to figure out how to solve bigger problems, create better results or provide more value.

Do that consistently for long enough and one of two things will happen.

You'll get paid more where you are.

Or you'll become qualified for an opportunity that pays you more somewhere else.

Either way, the responsibility for increasing your value is yours.

I've had quite a few new followers & friends added recently, so it felt like a good time for a quick reintroduction.

I’m Jake Blickenstaff, based in Northeast Georgia, and most of what I do falls into three buckets:

• Commercial real estate brokerage
Retail, industrial, and land with a focus on helping business owners, investors, and landowners make better real estate decisions

• Investment and development
Through Altitude Development Group, we focus on overlooked and underutilized properties in secondary and tertiary markets across Northeast Georgia

• Sober living
I’m also an owner and partner in a sober living business providing safe and stable housing for individuals continuing their recovery and rebuilding independence

A lot of my work comes back to the same idea

Find the potential
Understand what is needed
Build something better

I care a lot about smart growth, strong local communities, and creating opportunities that actually make sense for the people who live and work there.

If you’re interested in commercial real estate, investing, development, local growth, or what’s happening across Northeast Georgia, that’s what you’ll find here.
