Sara Chisnell is an attorney with an extensive background in animal law, beginning before she was even in law school. In college, she was exposed to the injustice of breed specific legislation and her eyes were opened. After law school and working in the Michigan Attorney General’s office with the Racing Commission, she spent nearly 10 years as Legal Counsel for United Kennel Club, the second largest dog registry in the US. During her time there she oversaw the dispute department and dealt with just about every kind of disagreement that can arise out of dog breeding, dog sales, partnerships, etc. This in-depth experience combined with her nerdy love of drafting contracts makes her one of the best attorneys to create sound and usable contracts for those in the dog world. Besides her specialized legal knowledge, Sara is dog obsessed. Her dogs are multi-titled in both sports and shows, including hunt testing in different venues, Grand Champions in UKC conformation with multiple Best in Show wins, and dock jumping. She was even featured on national TV with her GSP A Boy Named Sue as contestants on America’s Top Dog! You would be hard pressed to find many attorneys as passionate about dogs with her depth of knowledge on such a unique niche of the law. Sara believes in creating real-world contracts, with easy to understand language rather than a lot of confusing legal-ese, that clearly explain the expectations and terms for both parties. Contracts are drafted using her vast experience in the dog world combined with her legal experience, tailored to each individual's needs and without the unenforceable provisions seen in a lot of animal contracts. She can help with any contractual need, from sales to breeding to leasing to boarding and training.
