EVAC ORDER LIFTED FOR ZALESKI AND SURROUNDING AREAS. THE ATMOSPHERE AND SOIL HAS BEEN DEEMED “SAFE”.

ECOLOGICAL DISASTER:
NO FLY ZONE under 23,000 feet from Chillicothe to Athens due to the chemical leak at the Austin Powder plant just outside Zaleski.
Additionally redcross is now on site assisting residents that were evacuated from the region.
Vinton County Schools is the official site for most civilians from what I’ve seen and heard from comments and officials.
Nearly 5,000 gallons of nitric acid has leaked into the atmosphere and soil. This is an extremely dangerous situation, and based off of some things I’ve read… it could be some time before residents will be allowed to return.

Below is the chemical leak + no fly zone.
The chemical leak is drifting Northeast. There’s some potential that these chemicals may be diluted, but cross county borders into Hocking and Athens County.
I am not making any official statement when saying this, but just given the circumstances + the continued leak it’s a possibility.
Only listen to your state/county/city officials in regards to evacuations.
Those in Vinton County need to continue to stay away and maybe even consider getting a hotel in a county over.
