Meet Ethan Lisenby, one of our talented law clerks working at Smith Robinson this summer.

Ethan is from Sumter, South Carolina, where he still lives while commuting to Columbia as a rising 2L at the Joseph F. Rice School of Law. He was drawn to the law by a passion for problem-solving, advocacy, and helping others, and appreciates the analytical side of the work and the challenge of finding practical solutions to complex problems.

Ethan has been with Smith Robinson on a seasonal basis for nearly four years, drawn to the firm for the opportunity to learn from experienced attorneys in civil litigation and defense work. He says the experience he's gained working alongside different attorneys has been invaluable — and he always knew he wanted to come back.

Outside of work and law school, Ethan enjoys spending time with his wife and dog, golfing, fishing, and staying active.

Meet Emma Davisson, one of our talented law clerks working at Smith Robinson this summer.

Emma is originally from Williston, South Carolina, and has called Columbia home for the past five years after attending the University of South Carolina for her undergraduate studies.

She's now a rising 2L at the Joseph F. Rice School of Law, where she serves as Treasurer for the Student Bar Association, a Pro Bono Board Member, and a member of Women in Law.

Emma was drawn to the law by a desire for a people-oriented career where she could genuinely help others. A piece of advice from a good friend sums it up well: she never wanted to be someone with the best of intentions who did nothing with them. Law, for Emma, is a way to act on the change you want to see.

Outside the office, Emma enjoys spending time with friends, running, swimming, cooking, and getting creative with her needlepoint projects.
