Fellow realtor and a current Director for Chicago Association REALTORS Chicago Association of Realtors, Sheila Dantzler was the first public speaker at yesterday’s City Council meeting which discussed the PRO (protecting renters ordinance) proposal at length. The public opinion was mixed; tenants voiced their opinion as to why it SHOULD pass, while housing providers voiced their opinion as to why it shouldn’t. While there were a few council members who thought it should pass, they didn’t believe it should pass as currently constructed. Most council members who were in attendance stated it should NOT pass. Housing providers stated it was unfair for them to have to pay to fund a bureau for enforcement. Council members stated the fees being charged to housing providers would almost certainly be passed on to tenants. The created bureau would be under the Department of Housing. Council members questioned the department’s ability to enforce the ordinance. Commissioner Castaneda who was in attendance, stated her department currently does not have the experience or expertise to enforce the ordinance. In summary, there appears to be a lot of holes in the ordinance. Only time will tell...

The visit to the DMV kicked off with a visit to Nationals Park to watch them play the Chicago National League team. I don't have a rooting interest but spending a summer evening at the ballpark is good therapy for me.

Boats and closings..the week that was...

Congratulations to my 2 clients Carla and Natosha on finishing their marathons that began in fall of 2025 and ended at the closing table this week. It was only fitting they would both close on the same day, in the same location, at the the same time.

And what's a better way to celebrate than a fireworks show from the lake with my favorite city as a backdrop?!
