π‘ We hear all the time how expensive homes have become, and honestly, they're not wrong.
Here in Cheyenne, the average home has nearly doubled in price over the past several years. New construction with a basement can easily cost $600,000 or more. There's no question that affordability has become a challenge.
That's why I found this chart interesting.
Instead of comparing home prices alone, it compares home prices to household income. Based on that, the United States still ranks as one of the more affordable countries for homeownership compared to much of the rest of the world.
That doesn't mean buying a home is easy today. It simply reminds us that perspective matters. While home prices have gone up, our incomes, financing options, and overall housing market are different than many other countries.
As a Realtor, I see firsthand how challenging this market can be. I also see buyers becoming homeowners every day with the right plan and the right guidance.
What do you think? Does this chart surprise you?
