RAIN OR SHINE, OUR TEAM KEEPS MOVING! A group of Legal Services Vermont and Vermont Legal Aid colleagues laced up their sneakers and ran in the Vermont Corporate Cup Challenge last week. The event is a fundraiser for wellness programs such as the Vermont Senior Games, Community Wellness Grants, Parks Rx, and Fit and Healthy Kids. Way to go, team!

MEET THE ADVOCATE: Maggie

Maggie is an LSV attorney who focuses on housing law and Social Security benefits. Her day-to-day work includes helping tenants understand their rights, preventing evictions, and advocating for clients whose public benefits have been reduced or terminated.

“When people call me for the first time, they are often experiencing a high-stress, emotional and overwhelming situation," Maggie says. “Most callers are lost in a maze of acronyms and bureaucracy. I like to offer them a map by explaining their rights and demystifying the process. Instead of telling them what to do, I’ll lay out a path available so that they can regain control."
