Mentoring law students is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
This week, I had the chance to reflect on that while reading a law review article written by one of our clerks, Abe Metz. What started as conversations in our office about rideshare and food delivery cases turned into a thoughtful, forward-looking piece on how these companies influence driver behavior—and how that impacts safety on our roads.
Abe took a deeper look at issues we’re actively litigating: app-driven pressure, distracted driving, corporate control, and the troubling insurance gaps that leave people unprotected. Seeing those real-world issues develop into meaningful legal scholarship is exactly why mentorship matters.
It’s a reminder that the next generation of lawyers isn’t just learning the law—they’re helping shape it.
