While it’s shameful for any attorney to use AI to do their job, because we know AI hallucinates fake case law, it’s absolutely disgusting that the government and court would deny someone’s freedom based on it.

When the state cares so little for justice and freedom, and when the court lets the state write its orders citing to fake case law, real lives can be effected. Both the prosecutor and the trial court have a duty to make sure the authority they rely on is real.

Good on the Georgia Supreme for calling it out. Shame on the state for even after getting called out to suggest it was added in after she’d done the initial work (and good again on the Supreme Court for pointing out it was in her original paperwork (the original brief).
