Texas Avenue lane closure coming up 🚧

As part of Brazos County's remodel of its Administration Building, the southbound right lane of Texas Avenue will be closed between 26th and 28th Streets, starting Monday, Sept. 7. This closure is expected to last until early December.

The left lane will remain open. During peak times, drivers are encouraged to give themselves a few extra minutes to pass through this area.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – Don’t Fall for It! 🚨

We’re continuing to receive reports of scammers impersonating the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies.

The scam typically starts with a phone call claiming you missed jury duty and now have a warrant for your arrest. The caller will tell you the only way to avoid being arrested is to make an immediate payment using Bitcoin, gift cards, or another electronic payment method.

It’s a scam.

Here are a few important reminders:

🔹 The Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you demanding payment over the phone.

🔹 We will NOT call you because you missed jury duty and ask you to pay to avoid arrest.

🔹 Law enforcement does NOT accept payment in the form of Bitcoin, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other similar methods.

🔹 Scammers may even email or text you what appears to be an official warrant or court document. These documents are fake and designed to convince you the scam is legitimate.

These scammers can sound professional and convincing, but their goal is to pressure you into acting before you have time to think.

Never send money to anyone demanding immediate payment over the phone. If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from law enforcement, hang up and contact the agency directly using a verified phone number.

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of scammers impersonating members of our office. Victims report receiving calls from 979-361-4900 and 979-361-4990, claiming they have an active warrant, missed jury duty, or failed to appear in court.

To make the scam appear legitimate, the callers are sending fake court documents and demanding payment to avoid arrest.

⚠️ Remember:
• The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call and demand payment to avoid arrest.
• We will NEVER ask you to pay with Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, gift cards, cash apps, or wire transfers.
• No legitimate law enforcement agency will direct you to a Bitcoin ATM or kiosk to make a payment.

If you receive one of these calls:
✅ Hang up immediately
✅ Do not send money
✅ Do not provide personal information
✅ Contact the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office directly to verify any claims

The fake documents can look convincing, but if someone claiming to be from law enforcement demands payment by Bitcoin, gift cards, or another electronic payment method to avoid arrest, it is a scam.

Early this morning, TMPA Regional Attorney Ray Thomas responded to assist our members with the College Station Police Department following an officer-involved shooting.

Thankfully, no law enforcement were injured during the incident.

Multiple customers have reported receiving scam calls from 833-702-3092. The scammer claims to represent BTU, threatens immediate disconnection, and asks for personal information.

BTU will not contact you in this way. If you receive a call from this number, ignore it and report it as spam. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to our customer service team at 979-821-5700.
