Over the weekend, the Bryan Police Department received multiple phone calls from concerned parents who reported they received a phone call from their adult son/daughter, reporting they were in jail, and a lawyer was placed on the phone demanding $25,000 dollars immediately, for services.
This is a SCAM. Scammers are using AI to place these phone calls and the voices will sound real. There will be a since of urgency placed on the demands wanted. Some tips to help avoid being scammed by this phone call.

-Do not make any form of payment
-Call the person who is reporting they are in trouble
-Contact the holding facility they are reporting to be in
-Contact the local law enforcement agency in that area. Agencies have resources to help if you are not located in that area
-Do not get caught up in the since of urgency for payment, if it does not appear right, it's probably not.

As always, please call BPD Intake at 979-209-5300 to report these scams.
