Hovey Design

Hovey Design Hovey Design is a full-service design firm based in Brooklyn, New York. We specialize in staging for real estate, interior design and home products.

We have collaborations with Anthropologie and Kumi Kookoon and our first book, Heirloom Modern (Rizzoli, 2013), tells the stories behind the objects in people's homes and is in stores now. STAGING: A blank canvas allows for endless creative possibilities, but in real estate - especially New York real estate - empty space overwhelms. In Manhattan, Brooklyn and beyond, we provide potential home buye

rs with a sketch of the new, beautiful lives that await inside those walls. For each staging project, we carefully consider the neighborhood, space, light and buyer demographics when selecting décor. We strive to enhance each unit with simple, understated elegance, leaving enough room for buyers to picture the space as their future home the moment they step inside. INTERIOR DESIGN: When approaching interior design, we know that no one’s taste is formed in the present. Our cumulative experiences define who we are; family vacations, favorite movies, cherished memories from childhood fill our lives with meaning and beauty. Celebrating those experiences, and finding objects reminiscent of them, bestows any décor with soul and transforms a house into a home. Nothing is more personal than a home. When we work with clients to create a space for future memories, we urge them to look to the past.

FELT LINES | This two bed, one bath corner loft features 12-foot ceilings and sits inside The American Felt Building, constructed in 1906 as HQ for the country’s largest felt maker. They made all sorts of felt for all uses, but particularly for piano strikers, mighty useful for all the piano manufacturers around Union Square. We added in a new suite of modernist lighting to pair up with sleek vintage Italian pieces. 114 East 13th Street 10D | .doyle | Asking: $1.795M

HOYT COUTURE | It’s just wild that you can be perched at the crossroads of Fort Greene, Brooklyn Heights and Boerum Hill and have an absolutely unobstructed view onto 🗽and Manhattan. We’ve been so lucky and privileged to do work inside buildings imagined by many of today’s leading female architects: , and now . captures so much of the organic architecture on display at the Gilder Center but fully stands on its own as a LEED Gold Certified residential high rise icon. We kept the decor light, fun and quiet Scandi, to feel right for fun families.

LIKE THE WIND, WILLOW | A mix of warm art deco, Impressionism and Viennese Secession make this Brooklyn Heights beauty come to life. A massive landscape by Jean Louis Marcel Cosson (French 1887-1956) and Akari 100D dominate the parlor, accented by a pair of mahogany Charles Gregory chairs c. 1929 and a Josef Hoffman Fledermaus set. On the top floor, a sofa mingles with vintage Italian rattan and French rope chairs. LET’S GOOOO, ROTHKO! | Mark Rothko’s old home and studio on East 6th has been elegantly updated into two multi-level luxury condos. FROM THE VAULT | In a land of white boxes comes this industrial brick gem with concrete floors below and exposed beams 12 feet above, giving texture and character all around. We softened things up with bleached woods and cozy textiles. Sitting in the epicenter of the Chelsea glassy district, The Spears Building was constructed in 1880 as a factory and converted into condos in 1996. 525 West 22nd Street 4B | | Asking: $2.625M

ABOVE IT | It’s another perfect perch, this time from Williamsburg, overlooking Brooklyn, the river and Manhattan beyond. Low sculptural pieces with a good deal of reflection fill the space. We love all the strong blacks used in the kitchen and moldings, so we complemented it with masculine-leaning shapes. 144 North 8th 12A | .r.rubin | Asking: $3.25M
