Patients have the right to ask their doctors questions about treatments in order to make a well-informed decision. This conversation is an informed consent process, but is different than signing a consent form. A consent form shows that a patient received information about the care they're receiving.

Medical malpractice may arise if true informed consent is not obtained. Your lawyer will review if the process was adequate and if your injury was a preventable error or a known risk.
