There is probably nothing scarier than being falsely accused of a crime. Even more so, a crime against a child. As an attorney it is gut wrenching work.

For the last two days Blake Beliles has fought for justice for one of his clients in the Butler Circuit Court. That justice came late yesterday afternoon in a verdict of NOT GUILTY!

Congratulations on a great win for your client. And, yes people do get falsely accused!

It is often said that “the truth can set you free”. Today that rang out in a case in Christian County, where a young man was falsely accused of r**e. He was arrested in front of his colleagues at a school, where he worked in Tennessee and was almost immediately fired from his job. This young man’s name is Emmanuel Eubanks. He specifically asked me to use his name to try to clear up all of the hateful and awful things that were said about him after he was arrested.

Emmanuel was brave enough to testify before the grand jury and tell the grand jury exactly what happened. Because of his testimony about what actually happened, they agreed that he should not be charged with any crime. We all now know that the alleged victim was never a victim at all.

I am thankful that our firm was able to help obtain justice for this young man and hope that he is quickly able to put his life back together, and continue to be the great young man that he is!

City: We have nothing to do with towing……well except we want to engage in socialistic price controls.

Let's talk TOWING!
The City of Bowling Green does not contract with towing companies to remove vehicles from private parking lots. We don’t monitor private lots, and we don’t send tow trucks when someone parks where they shouldn’t.
If your vehicle was towed from a private lot, that decision was made by the property owner or their management company not the City.
The only time the City is involved in towing is when the Bowling Green Police Department orders a tow following a traffic crash or as part of official police business (for example, evidence in a case).
We know having a vehicle towed is frustrating, and we want to make sure you have accurate information. When it comes to private lot towing, the City isn’t part of that process.

In recent weeks we became involved in taking a stand against government overreach. That, in this instance is taking the City of Bowling Green to court over their desire to regulate prices in a private business. The City's decision is popular with some citizens. Quite frankly, it is most popular with people who have trespassed on private property and parked where they are not supposed to park.

Fountain Square Towing carefully follows the existing ordinance regarding signage. Despite clearly posted 'No parking" signs people park illegally and get towed. We understand that it is frustrating to return to find your vehicle gone. It is equally frustrating to private property owners who have people park on their property, without permission.

The Court system will sort out whether the City of Bowling Green has the right to set rates for private business. Can you imagine having the government tell you what you can charge in your business?

With all that being said, we have been monitoring false and slanderous statements being made against Mr. Nash and his employees. Some of them have been reported to law enforcement. Keyboard warriors can and will be tracked and prosecuted if appropriate. Slanderous statements may also result in civil litigation against the perpetrators.

Humor is one thing; threats of harm are another.

In my almost 40 years of practicing law….there is one person (or two… Barry Raley) who, without exception, is a great human being and an incredible criminal investigator.

Dillon, as he is known, is diligent in his efforts to find the truth. Sometimes that doesn’t always mean a win for the prosecution. But it is a win for what is just and what is right. I am proud to know him and call him a friend.

He retires tomorrow. His retirement is a loss to BGPD. It is an even bigger loss to our community. “Dillon” will continue to serve what is right and just, no matter his future path.

Congratulations, and here is to a well deserved retirement!

While our office will be open, we will be working remotely. Our phone will be answered.

We can also confirm that The Warren, Allen, Simpson, Edmonson and Barren and Ohio County courthouses will be closed. There are likely to be others closed as well but these are the ones we are sure about.

Update: U.S. District Court offices will be physically closed too, but phones and emails will be answered as normal.
