The Dass Law Firm

The Dass Law Firm To achieve the firm's goals, Attorney and Founder Clarence M. Dass was named “The One to Watch” by the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association. Reid Honors College.

The Dass Law Firm specializes in criminal, juvenile, and family law, while pursuing community projects aimed at improving the quality of life for those in Oakland County, Michigan and the surrounding region. Dass draws upon his experience as both a prosecutor and private practitioner to assist the firm's clients. Whether in or out of the courtroom, Clarence Dass has gained a reputation as an aggre

ssive advocate, dedicated lawyer, and successful leader. For nearly five years, Dass served as Assistant Prosecuting Attorney at the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, one of the nation’s top prosecutor’s offices. There, he prosecuted thousands of crimes, tried cases to judges and juries, and gained experience at all levels of the criminal justice system. He appeared in every district court in Oakland County and handled cases all throughout the Oakland County Circuit Court. Because of his early success, work ethic, and passion for the law, Dass was promoted to the Special Victims Section of the Prosecutor’s Office. As a Special Prosecutor, he handled the most complex and serious crimes in Oakland County, ranging from child and elder abuse to sexual assault, domestic violence, and murder. By the time Dass left the prosecutor’s office, he had worked with virtually every police agency, probation department, and court system in Oakland County. Since leaving the Prosecutor’s Office, Dass has handled several high-profile cases in Michigan and throughout the country. He has successfully tried cases to juries, achieved outstanding results for his clients, and ensured that they have long-term success beyond just their legal matter. He is an active member of the Oakland County Bar Association and frequently speaks on various topics throughout the legal community. He is licensed to practice in all courts in the State of Michigan, federal court, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Clarence Dass believes that service to the community does not stop at the courtroom doors. His entire career, Dass has undertaken various community and leadership initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of those around him. In 2017, because of his leadership, Dass was named one of the Oakland County Executive’s “Elite 40 Under 40.” He served as President of the 27th Class of Leadership Oakland, where he helped spearhead the building of a safe house for human trafficking survivors. In 2018, he received Leadership Oakland’s “Leader of Leaders” Award for Exemplary Public Leadership. Apart from his service in the law, Dass is an advocate for cancer patients and survivors. A cancer survivor himself, he serves on the Advisory Board to Gilda’s Club of Metro Detroit. In 2019, he was recognized by the State Bar of Michigan with the “Unsung Hero Award” for his commitment to serving his clients and community while secretly battling Stage 4 Colon Cancer—an inspirational story he now shares with groups and organizations across the country. He has been featured on CNN, Fox News, People Magazine, the Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, The Oakland Press, and the Chaldean News. He serves as Legal Expert for WXYZ-TV. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Rochester University and serves on the Board of Visitors of the Wayne State University Irvin D. Dass’ mission is to advocate for those who are voiceless and provide legal help to those who need it the most.

The Oakland County Bar Association has named Clarence Dass recipient of its 2022 Frances R. Avadenka Memorial Award!

Established in 1987, the award honors a legal professional who has made great contributions to the community OUTSIDE of the legal profession, as did Frances R. Avadenka, the Oakland County Bar Association’s first female President.

According to Hon. James Alexander (ret.), who nominated Dass, besides his steadfast work for his clients, community, and volunteerism, Clarence’s constant extra efforts to spread awareness about colon cancer—a disease he himself survived as a legal professional—exemplifies the kind of person for whom the Avadenka Award was designed.

Congratulations, Clarence!
