This is a follow up to a post we made a few months back. The convicted DNA analyst was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
This is why you shouldn't simply "Trust the Science!"
"Problems with the scientist’s work were found in cases involving homicide, sexual assault, robbery and other crimes, according to authorities. Prosecutors were forced to review hundreds of cases, and at least one murder conviction was vacated as a result of Woods’ misconduct."

🎓 BACK TO SCHOOL = A GOOD TIME FOR A QUICK REMINDER

📚 As your college-age kids head back to campus, make sure they know what to do if they are ever stopped or questioned by law enforcement.

A few important things to remember:

🔹 Stay calm and be respectful. Identify yourself if asked.
🔹 Ask, “Am I free to leave?” If the answer is "yes", leave calmly.
🔹 You have the right to remain silent. You can simply say, “I choose to remain silent.”
🔹 Don’t consent to a search: “I do not consent to any search.”
🔹 Don’t argue, resist, or try to explain your way out of a situation.
🔹 If you are being detained or arrested, ask for an attorney and stop answering questions.

The best time to learn these rights is before you need them.

📚 A new semester means new opportunities—and sometimes new situations. Make sure your college student knows their rights.

📢📢It's hard to keep up with all the law changes in Louisiana. We review the long list of new laws every year so we can adequately represent our clients. ⚖️ There were also updates to DWI laws. Stay tuned. 📺

The Louisiana Legislature during its most recent session passed over 900 bills, and several hundred took effect Saturday. Here are a few of the most notable.

DNA testing isn't perfect. This former crime lab analyst manipulated data and buried results for decades!

"According to an arrest affidavit, investigators said Woods intentionally left DNA samples out of tests or reports and sometimes would test samples until the results showed what she wanted."

A former DNA analyst with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation changed her plea to guilty in court on Tuesday to four charges, as part of an agreement in which prosecutors dropped 100 other counts she was facing.
