South Austin office share—come be our tenant!
CHA Law Group, PC is a family law firm at 4103 Menchaca (across from Radio Coffee), and we have a private desk available in a shared office of 130+ square feet. Your officemate? Practically a rumor. He's in maybe two days a month, half days if that. The room is mostly yours to inhabit.

Here's what comes with it: wifi, reception area, shared kitchen and bathroom, 6 hours/month of conference room time (by reservation), and 6 notarizations per month all included. Staff around roughly 10am–4pm to greet your clients, accept packages, and notarize by appointment. Need a will-signing ceremony with a notary and two witnesses? We can probably make that happen at a negotiable rate.

We're a family law firm (dabbling in simple wills only), so referrals could naturally flow to a real estate attorney or complex trusts/estate planning. But honestly, any professional who could use a legitimate address, reception, and humans who know how to handle clients would be right at home here.

If you are in Texas and raising a child whose parent you are not, if parentage is unclear, or if you are in a same-s*x couple without a court order, there are some staturory changes to the Texas Family Code regarding standing that would make it helpful (and probably less expensive) to consult with me asap. Code changes effective for cases filed Sept 1. I do adoptions statewide. For shared custody cases, if I can't handle, will almost always find you a referral.

I am sad to share that the State Department is apparently now following Texas' lead & declining to process gender (/s*x) corrections to passports... if you have a combined name/gender order, you probably want to sever those so you can at least update your name on your identity docs. (And take care of yourself, everone, it's been a rough few weeks!)

The ACLU has warned that transgender people risk losing access to their passport and supporting documents if they apply to update their gender marker.

Tsong Law Group's analysis is that the new Executive Order w/r/t birthright citizenship does not apply to international intended parents using an American surrogate. See link to article in comments. (CHA Law Group has comments from the peanut gallery that the EO's use of the word "progenitor" just sounds creepier than "biological parent.") Stay tuned as the wild ride continues.

Once again spoke at a CLE, this one was State Bar of Texas on Adoption, where I moderated the judge's panel and moderated and spoke on ART, plus had helped Law Offices of Christina Molitor, PC in set-up, but forgot to post any pictures of any of that!
