Many teachers assume a personal hardship automatically protects them from discipline. 📚

But in Texas, contract abandonment cases are evaluated based on specific rules, timelines, and documentation requirements. Even when a teacher has a legitimate reason for leaving mid-year, failing to follow the required process can still place their certificate at risk.

Understanding how these cases are reviewed can help educators avoid preventable mistakes before making major career decisions.

An accusation alone shouldn’t decide a teacher’s future. ⚖️

After a Texas school district received allegations involving a former student, TD retained Bertolino LLP to defend against the claims. The firm presented evidence showing the report lacked credibility and was driven by a former coworker’s bias and motive to retaliate.

The district ultimately made no findings and did not initiate any report to TEA.

A school closure can affect your license path. 📄

When a massage therapy school is shut down, students may have to provide independent proof that they personally completed the required education hours before the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation will consider those hours for licensure credit.

Even students who already completed their training may still be impacted if the school’s records can no longer be verified.
