Happy International Le***an Day! The lgbtq+ community has a number of flags that represent the identities of the community. The le***an flag alone has gone through numerous evolutions and iterations throughout time. As of today, there are a total of 8 major flag variants that are universally recognized as belonging to the le***an community, and the various identities within the community itself.

Here's a glimpse at those 8 designs, and the years they're credited as being published or recognized by the public as a community flag. No one variant is more valid than the other, and the specific flag a le***an individual may use is entirely up to what they most identify with. At pride, we handed out small flags of the Orange-Pink 5 Stripe Variant.

For this we're also doing a small to the Lavender Law Conference that was held back in July. While not as fancy as my other outfit I shared for this trip, I think it shows how advocating for yourself and others as a q***r person doesn't have to be complicated or dressed up to be effective and meaningful. 💜

If you're new here, welcome it's great to meet you! If you already know who I am, it's great to have you back here.

I founded Lavender Root Legal because my experience in law thus far has made it abundantly clear just how outdated our legal system's idea of a family is. Q***r folk and people with non-traditional family structures are often left trying to navigate within a system that doesn't recognize, or understand who they and their families are as people.

I absolutely love connecting with my community, it reminds me why I do what I do, and how genuinely passionate I am about helping my fellow LGBTQ+ folk navigate some of life's hardest changes, and advocating for their best interests as I do so. Pride is the perfect opportunity for that genuine connection, while also celebrating the community that uplifts and supports me, and that I hold so dear to my heart.

I was finally able to sort through all the photos that I took back in July at the 2026 Lavender Law Conference and put together a small photo dump of some of my favorite memories of Chicago. From the conference itself to visiting the museums, seeing the iconic Dorothy's Bar in person and so many more memories, it was a blast and I can't wait to see what the 2027 Conference has in store.

One year ago, Lavender Root Legal opened its doors at 12 Wall St. in downtown Asheville.

The seeds for this firm were planted a long time before that. There's even a real lavender plant in Madison's garden that grew right alongside the idea. But this is the year it took root!

To every family who trusted us this year: thank you. You let us walk with you through some big moments. We don't take that lightly.

To our Asheville community, our referral partners, and everyone who passed our name along to a friend who needed it: thank you too. That's how a small firm grows, and how a community takes care of each other.

We started Lavender Root Legal because q***r, nontraditional, and modern families deserve legal support that sees the whole family. One year in, that's still the whole point.
