Don't Wait Until October 15 to File Your Tax Return!

If you requested an extension for your 2025 federal tax return, the IRS is encouraging taxpayers to file now instead of waiting until the October 15 deadline.

Filing early can help you:
• Avoid the last-minute rush.
• Resolve any unexpected issues before the deadline.
• Reduce penalties and interest by paying any balance due as soon as possible.

An extension gives you more time to file, but it does not give you more time to pay any taxes owed.

Our experienced tax professionals are here to help you file an accurate return and answer your tax questions before the deadline.

Visit us today or call to schedule your appointment.

Small-business owners can have a profitable year and still be surprised when tax time comes around.

One major reason: unlike a regular W-2 paycheck, taxes may not automatically be withheld from the money you're making through your business.
And simply putting aside 30% of everything that comes into your business isn't necessarily the answer either. Your actual tax situation depends on factors like your profit, business structure, deductions, other income, credits, and overall tax situation.

This is another reason why keeping your books current matters. Accurate year-to-date numbers give you and your tax professional better information to estimate where you stand and plan for taxes before the year is over.

Estimated taxes shouldn't be a guessing game. Good tax planning starts with accurate bookkeeping.

Family-Based Green Card Update: Final Action Dates Have Moved Forward

The U.S. Department of State has significantly advanced many family-based Final Action Dates in the September Visa Bulletin. This was done to maximize the use of available immigrant visas before the end of the federal fiscal year on September 30.

If you've been waiting for years for your priority date to become current, this update could be an important step toward your green card. However, not everyone will benefit. Your priority date must still be current, and you must meet all eligibility requirements.

Swipe through this post to learn:
• Why the dates moved forward
• Which family-based categories were affected
• How much the dates advanced
• Who may benefit
• What you should do next

Stay informed by checking the Visa Bulletin each month. Immigration updates can create new opportunities, and understanding them can help you prepare for the next step in your case.

What does a bookkeeper actually do every month?

It’s more than just looking at your bank transactions. Monthly bookkeeping helps keep your business finances accurate, organized, and up to date.

Some of the basics include: • Recording and categorizing transactions
• Reconciling bank and credit card accounts
• Reviewing and correcting discrepancies
• Preparing financial reports like your Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet

There are more advanced services a bookkeeper can provide, but these are some of the fundamentals that help you understand what’s actually happening financially in your business.

Good bookkeeping means knowing your numbers throughout the year—not trying to figure everything out at tax time.

If you wait until tax season to organize your business finances, you're already behind.

Bookkeeping isn't just something you should think about when it's time to file your taxes. Keeping your books updated throughout the year helps you understand how much your business is making, where your money is going, and whether your expenses are getting out of control.

It also makes it much easier to catch mistakes while transactions are still fresh instead of trying to remember what happened 6 or 8 months ago.

When tax season arrives, you shouldn't have to rebuild an entire year of financial records. Your books should already be organized.

At Lehigh Multiservice, we provide bookkeeping services for small businesses using Xero.

Advance Parole: What You Need to Know Before You Travel

USCIS recently updated its guidance for people requesting Advance Parole (Form I-131), especially those who have accumulated more than 180 days of unlawful presence in the United States.

One of the most important points is that having an approved Advance Parole document does not automatically guarantee that you can leave the U.S. and return without immigration consequences. USCIS will review each case individually, including your immigration history and the reason for your travel.

If you're thinking about traveling outside the United States, make sure you understand how it could affect your immigration case before making plans.

Swipe through this post to learn the key points from the updated USCIS guidance.

📢 Have You Moved? Don't Forget to Update Your Address with USCIS.

If you have a pending USCIS case or are required to keep your address current, it's important to notify USCIS as soon as you move. Keeping your address up to date helps prevent delays, missed notices, and other issues that could affect your immigration case.

You can update your address quickly and securely through the official USCIS website.

Stay informed. Stay compliant. Protect your case.

One bookkeeping mistake I see small-business owners make all the time: mixing personal and business expenses.

Using your business account for groceries, dinner, or other personal purchases might not seem like a big deal at the time, but it can make your bookkeeping messy and make it harder to understand how your business is actually performing.

And if you accidentally use your business account for something personal, that doesn't automatically make it a business expense. It still needs to be categorized correctly in your books.

In this video, I explain why separating your personal and business finances matters and how this simple habit can help you maintain cleaner, more accurate financial records.

I'm Jeffrey with Lehigh Multiservice in Allentown, PA. We provide bookkeeping services for small businesses and help business owners keep their books organized throughout the year.
