518 ElevatED (formerly Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar) Building Foundations for a Brighter Future

518ElevatED's mission is to provide specialized programs, mentoring, professional guidance, and academic and financial support for qualifying high school students in the Capital Region. By assembling a network of business leaders, educational advocates, and dedicated volunteers, promising youth are provided opportunity and access to higher education that may be otherwise unavailable. With over 24 years of experience, we are changing lives through the power of education.

Big congratulations to Albany High School Class of 2026 grads James Campbell and Ian Roach, the recipients of this year's Burian Memorial Success-in-Arts Scholarship!

Presented by 518 ElevatED, each scholar earned $3,000 toward their postsecondary education, honoring the artistic legacy of dedicated educators Jarka and Grayce Burian.

✦ James Campbell launched Riches In Christ, a clothing brand blending faith and fashion, while a sophomore at Albany High. Through his brand, he discovered a passion for design and entrepreneurship while using his platform to make a positive impact in the community. James served as AHS Senior Class President and plans to continue building his business while attending the University at Albany.

✦ Ian Roach is a comedic filmmaker whose work has been featured in METROLAND NOW and screened everywhere from local film festivals to Manhattan galleries. Recipient of both the Young Masters Award and the Brendan Fahy Bequette Fund Award, Ian also served as President and Head of PR for the AHS Drama Club and was named one of the Top 20 High School Performers in the Capital Region by Proctors Collaborative.

We can’t wait to see how these talented young leaders shape the future of our Capital Region arts community!

On June 11, the 518 ElevatED community came together at MiSci for our annual Scholar Celebration, honoring the achievements and graduation of our 2026 Scholars.

This year's graduates have been accepted to institutions including RPI, Syracuse University, Stony Brook University, the University at Albany, the University of Houston, and the Culinary Institute of America. Their academic and career aspirations span a remarkable range of fields, from biomedical engineering and public health to business administration, fashion and textiles, criminal justice, and cosmetology.

The evening began with a screening introduced by Albany County Legislator Ellen Rosano and continued as Scholars reflected on their journeys and the exciting opportunities ahead.

Each year, Scholar Celebration reminds us of the power of investing in talented Capital Region youth. We were honored to celebrate alongside county officials, board members, mentors, educators, community partners, student volunteers, parents, families, and friends who continue to support our mission. Thank you to everyone who has helped make our Scholars' success possible as we work together to .
