About 70% of people who reach 65 will need long-term care at some point. π
Seventy percent isn't a risk. It's a planning requirement.
We insure our homes against fire at a much lower likelihood and never question it. But long-term care β the most likely major expense of later life β is the one almost nobody plans for. We think it's because a house fire happens to you. Needing care feels like something you'd be admitting. π
The statistic doesn't care how it feels, though. It's still 70%.
This week we're pricing it out.
