Here is the latest status of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2026 (As of Aug. 24, 2026):
✅ Official calendar (still in effect as of now):
📅 Election Day: November 2, 2026
📝 Filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC): September 28 – October 5, 2026
📣 Campaign period: October 22 – 31, 2026
Adunay mga proposed postponement bills pending in Congress:
⚠️ House of Representatives — leaning toward postponement:
✅️ HB 10376 (filed Aug. 1, introduced on the floor Aug. 3) seeks to move the elections to November 2028.
✅️ HB 10591 (filed Aug. 4 by Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez and 63 other lawmakers, supported by Suffrage and Electoral Reforms Committee chair Rep. Ziaur-Rahman Alonto Adiong) also seeks to reset the polls to the last Monday of November 2028, citing rising costs (fuel, transport, logistics) amid the ₱19-billion BSKE budget.
Support for postponement has been growing in the House.
⚠️ Senate — closely divided:
✅️ Sen. Chiz Escudero has proposed fixing barangay/SK terms at 5 years (from the current 4), which would effectively postpone the election.
✅️ Sen. Imee Marcos has proposed moving the election to October 2027, citing the Nov. 2 date falling on All Souls' Day and the financial burden on voters who travel home to vote.
An informal survey shows senators nearly evenly split, with those favoring postponement holding a slight edge.
COMELEC is asking Congress for a definite answer by mid-September.
🗳️ Important:
No law has been passed yet. November 2, 2026 remains the official election date as of this writing, and COMELEC continues its preparations accordingly.
Padayon lng ta sa pag monitor if madayon ba or dili ang election 🤗
