Davao City continues to anchor the Davao Regionโs service sector, reinforcing its role as a key driver of economic growth.
In 2026, the Cityโs Business Bureau reported that most business applications during the Business One-Stop Shop came from retail establishments such as sari-sari stores, groceries, distributors, and various service contractorsโhighlighting the cityโs position as a hub for a service-driven economy.
According to the 2025 Economic Performance of the Davao Region released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on April 23, 2026, services continues to hold the largest share of the regionโs trillion-peso economy.
PSA data showed that services accounted for 62.1 percent of the regionโs P1.14 trillion total economic performance in 2025, the highest among all sectors. Industry followed with 24.7 percent, while agriculture, forestry, and fishing contributed 13.2 percent.
The sector contributed P707.16 billion, led by wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, at 38.9 percent. This was followed by financial and insurance activities at 12.6 percent, professional and business services at 7.5 percent, and transportation and storage at 7.4 percent.
Other contributors included education (6.6 percent), real estate and ownership of dwellings (6.6 percent), public administration and defense; compulsory social security (5.7 percent), human health and social work activities (5.2 percent), information and communications (4.0 percent), accommodation and food service activities (3.3 percent), and other services (2.1 percent).
While PSA data on Davao Cityโs exact contribution to the regional gross domestic product for 2025 has yet to be released, local indicators such as revenue collection suggest sustained growth.
Revenue collection by the city government increased significantly in 2025. The City Treasurerโs Office (CTO) collected a total of Php 15,146,232,423.44-worth of revenue in 2025 which is 12.93 percent higher than the Php 13,411,774,117.29 collection in 2024.
Davao City Treasurer Atty. Lawrence D. Bantiding attributed the increase to stronger business activity and improved taxpayer compliance.
โAng mga factors nga nakacontribute sa pag-increase sa atoang collection kay ang pag-improve sad sa business activities diri sa syudad, pag-increase sa number of professionals, ug ang pagka-mindful sa atoang mga taxpayers sa ilahang obligasyon nga pagbayad og tamaโng taxes sa city (Contributing to this increase are the boost in the cityโs business activities, increase in the number of professionals, and the mindfulness of the cityโs taxpayers in paying their taxes),โ he said.
Among the revenue sources, collections from professional taxes rose by 27.60 percent in 2025 to P6.93 million, up from P5.43 million in 2024.
Davao City also recorded the fastest economic growth in the region at 7.9 percent in 2024, outpacing the regional average of 6.3 percent. CIO
