Popoola-Taiwo LP was privileged to participate in the IMCA Europe & Africa Regional Meeting held at Eko Hotel, Lagos, bringing together industry leaders, regulators, technical experts and offshore professionals to discuss the future of offshore operations in Africa.

Our Lead Partner, Shehu Popson, delivered a presentation titled “Empowering Talent for the Offshore Industries: Building a Future-Ready Workforce for Offshore Excellence.”

He highlighted the importance of investing in education, mentorship, professional development, technical competence and stronger industry-academia collaboration as technology continues to transform the offshore sector.

The event also featured insightful contributions from Iain Grainger, Engr. Julius Ugwala, Engr. Tejumola Olasunkammi, Bill Chilton, Vincent Egbuziem, Dr. Kayode Ogunleye, Bart H.A. Okafor, Mary Ntamark, Russell Harper, Noah Isa Amwe, Dusu Bot, Florence Ogheneov, and other distinguished professionals, alongside Otunba Gbenga Daniel, representing the Senate President.

A key takeaway was the need to strengthen Nigeria’s indigenous diving and offshore workforce by improving training, competence assessment and local diving schools to meet internationally recognised standards.

Popoola-Taiwo LP proudly announces that its Lead Partner, Shehu Popoola-Taiwo, has been appointed a Notary Public of Nigeria by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

The formal swearing-in ceremony took place on Monday, 20 April 2026, at the High Court of Lagos State, Ikeja, where he joined other distinguished legal practitioners in taking on this important public office.

A Notary Public in Nigeria is a distinguished legal practitioner and an officer of the Supreme Court, entrusted with the responsibility of authenticating documents, administering oaths, certifying legal instruments, and verifying documents intended for international use, among other statutory functions under the Notaries Public Act 2023.

This milestone is a testament to his professional distinction, depth of experience, and steadfast dedication to the advancement of legal practice. It also reflects Popoola-Taiwo LP’s enduring commitment to excellence, credibility, and service within the legal industry.
