Anisha Patel and Lucy Kitson from our Berkhamsted team had a wonderful day with The Pepper Foundation at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo last week. They enjoyed meeting the trustees and families and finding out more about the incredible work the charity do to support local families.

The day wouldn't have been complete without some pictures with the penguins! 🐧

Many thanks to The Pepper Foundation for inviting Anisha and Lucy along.

It's time to go back to school, new adventures await! 📚✨

Here are our top tips for co-parenting during the transition back to the school routine.

1) Have a conversation with your ex-partner ahead of the new term to discuss the new timetable and any new after school activities to ensure that everyone is clear about drop off and pick up arrangements.

2) As well as having fun with the children, do your share of responsible parenting by ensuring homework and projects get completed in time, attend parents evenings, supervise music practice, take the children to their extracurricular activities and support them by regularly watching their matches/school plays/performances.

3) Do not undermine the primary carer’s authority. Support them when disciplining the children and setting expectations around homework and learning; it is not in the children’s best interest to play one parent against the other. Children need a united front. If you have concerns about the other parent’s approach, discuss this with them rather than doing something different during your time with the children.

4) Find a way to communicate with your spouse about the children and any correspondence you have had with your child's school. If your relationship is amicable, then take 5-10 minutes at the beginning or end of contact time to discuss anything relevant. If this is not realistic or possible then you may find it easier to communicate by text message or emails. Some parents keep a contact book which travels with the children and parents note anything the other parent should be aware of. Keep written communications factual and constructive; avoid critical comments to the other parent in communications about the children.

Come and join our growing London team!

We are interested in speaking with experienced Family Law Partners who enjoy leading people as much as leading cases and who want to play a meaningful role in shaping the direction of a firm. The role is based across our London offices.

This is a senior position with a strong leadership focus. Alongside managing your own caseload and meeting fee targets, you’ll be a visible leader within the practice — setting standards, supporting colleagues, and helping to build a positive, high-performing team. You’ll be involved in planning and attending partnership and strategy meetings, contributing ideas, and helping turn them into action.

Do get in touch if you would like to find out more.
