The Ministry of Justice has announced an extension to the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme, making it easier for families to access support when they need it most.

The scheme provides a financial contribution towards mediation costs, helping separating couples resolve disputes without the stress, delay and expense of going to court. It is a practical step that encourages constructive conversations and puts the needs of children at the centre.

Mediation is a highly effective tool in family law. It offers a confidential, flexible and less adversarial way to reach agreements on issues such as child arrangements, finances and communication. By focusing on collaboration rather than conflict, mediation can lead to more sustainable outcomes and better long term relationships.

At Kee Mediation, we are here to support you through these conversations with clarity, professionalism and care.

Meet the Team | Sarah MacDonald, Mediator

We are delighted to introduce the newest member of the Kee Mediation team, Sarah MacDonald.

Sarah has a particular interest in supporting families as they navigate child arrangements, helping parents find practical and positive ways forward during difficult times.

She brings a wealth of experience from a variety of professional settings, including running her own businesses and working across the wellbeing, retail and tourism and hospitality sectors. Her business background gives her a strong understanding of financial matters, which is valuable in financial mediation cases. Alongside this, Sarah brings an empathic and supportive approach, ensuring clients feel comfortable and understood throughout the mediation process.

Outside of her work, Sarah continues to volunteer and support children both locally and nationally. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time at the seaside, walking her dog and paddle boarding. She is also kept busy by her three teenagers.

We are very pleased to welcome Sarah to the team.

🎙️ Putting Children at the heart of family decisions 💛

At Kee Mediation, we know that separation isn’t just about legal arrangements - it’s about the people affected most, especially children.

Our latest blog explores Child Inclusive Mediation (CIM), a compassionate approach that gives children a safe, neutral space to express their feelings and be heard - without being asked to make decisions or take sides. 👧👦

✨ Find out how CIM can help your family build stronger, more sustainable parenting plans and truly keep your child’s needs at the centre of the process.

🕊️ Family Mediation Week 2026 | 26–30 January 🕊️

Family Mediation Week 2026 takes place from Monday 26 January to Friday 30 January, and it’s an important opportunity to learn about a calmer, more constructive way of resolving family disputes.

Organised by the Family Mediation Council, the week shines a light on how mediation can help separating couples and families resolve issues around finances, property and children - without the stress, cost and conflict of going to court.

💬 What is family mediation?
Mediation is a voluntary process where a neutral, trained mediator helps people have structured, respectful conversations and work towards practical agreements that suit their family’s needs. It puts communication, fairness and the wellbeing of children at the centre.

🌱 Why does it matter?
Mediation can be:

Less stressful and more amicable than court

Quicker and more cost-effective

Focused on future-focused solutions, not blame

📅 What’s happening during the week?
Family Mediation Week includes free webinars, in-person events, and expert Q&A sessions (including with well-known adviser Deidre Sanders), all designed to help families understand their options.

At Kee Mediation, we’re proud to support the message of Family Mediation Week and to help families find positive ways forward during challenging times.

🌟 Client Feedback Spotlight 🌟

We’re always grateful when clients share their experiences - and we’re delighted to receive this wonderful feedback about one of our mediators, Fran:

“Fran was very respectful of both me and my ex-partner and treated the situation fairly. Having an independent person who stays neutral was the most important thing throughout our mediation, and that’s exactly what Fran did for us.”

Even when mediation doesn’t lead to a full agreement, having a calm, neutral space to talk can make all the difference. Thank you to this client for sharing their experience 💙

👏 Amazing work, Fran - we’re so pleased to have you as part of the Kee Mediation team!

We’re delighted to welcome Francesca Bishop to the Kee Mediation team!

Fran brings a wealth of experience to her role as a family mediator, building on her background as a commercial lawyer and her work with organisations such as Citizens Advice and Erlestoke Family and Friends. She’s also a qualified Child Inclusive Mediator, committed to helping families find understanding and resolution.

Outside of work, you’ll find Fran in the garden, out walking her two collies, or surrounded by her four cats. Having raised three children to young adults, she’s well-versed in negotiation both at home and in her practice!

We’re so pleased to have her join the Kee Mediation team.

We are pleased to share that Kee Mediation now offers Child Inclusive Mediation in-house.

Child Inclusive Mediation provides children with the opportunity to have their voices heard in a safe, supportive environment when parents are separating or have separated. A specially trained mediator will meet with the child or children to listen to their views, feelings and wishes. What is shared can then be brought back into the mediation process, helping parents to make decisions that consider the perspectives of their children.

This approach does not place responsibility on the child to make choices, but ensures their voice is respectfully included. It can be a powerful way to support healthier family communication and future arrangements that work better for everyone involved.

Your future, your agreement. That’s what family mediation is all about.

When a relationship breaks down, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed by everything that needs to be decided. From finances and property to parenting arrangements, it can feel like your life is being pulled in different directions. But it doesn’t have to be that way.

Mediation gives you the chance to make calm, practical decisions together, in a safe and respectful space. Rather than handing over control to a judge, mediation helps you both have a say in shaping the outcome. You know your family best, and with the right support, you can reach an agreement that works for everyone involved.

At Kee Mediation, we’re here to guide you through the process step by step. We create a neutral environment where both voices are heard, and solutions are built around your unique circumstances. Whether you’re discussing child arrangements, dividing finances, or working out the next steps, we’ll help you stay focused on what really matters: your future.

Mediation isn’t about winning or losing. It’s about working together to move forward. It’s cost-effective, less stressful than court, and often much quicker. Most importantly, it puts the power back in your hands.

If you’re going through a separation or divorce, and you’re looking for a constructive, non-judgemental way forward, we’re here to help.
