Sponsors have 10 working days to report a sponsored worker's circumstances: a no-show, unauthorised absence, a pay cut, a role shift, a new work location or the end of sponsorship. Organisation events have 20 working days. A suspected breach of conditions must be reported as soon as reasonably practicable. Three moves on UK family visas. The £29,000 minimum income requirement is still in force and still under review. From 26 March 2027, settlement English rises from B1 to B2 under HC 1691. A new family migration policy is expected in early 2027. Some changes have already landed: HC 259 changed the leave given to partners of protection holders and added a care requirement for children. If you meet the rules today, don't wait for tomorrow's.

A partner or child can only join a Skilled Worker sponsored in a higher-skilled job (Tables 1–3 of Appendix Skilled Occupations, SW 29.1A and SW 32A.2). Care workers lost dependant rights for new applicants from 11 March 2024, and medium-skilled roles from 22 July 2025. Points-based applications work like a tick-box: if you meet the rule it’s granted, and if you don’t it’s refused and the fee is lost. Discretionary applications are a separate route and are judged on the merits of your case. Get independent legal advice before you apply.

The interim Temporary Shortage List covers only Certificates of Sponsorship issued before 31 December 2026. In July, the Migration Advisory Committee recommended cutting the list from 52 occupations to 28 from January 2027. Logistics managers, business associate professionals, and sales, marketing and finance-support roles are set to lose access. Electricians, welders, painters, plumbers and other construction trades stay in. The Home Office hasn’t made its final decision yet, but the 31 December cut-off is already in the Rules. The Innovator Founder route runs in 6 steps:
1️⃣ Choose an approved endorsing body
2️⃣ Pitch your business plan, which must be innovative, viable and scalable
3️⃣ Get the endorsement letter, then apply to the Home Office within 3 months
4️⃣ Apply for the visa with B2 English and £1,270 in funds
5️⃣ Run the business for 3 years, with meetings at 12 and 24 months
6️⃣ Get a settlement endorsement, then apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)

Settlement isn’t automatic. Your endorsing body must confirm at least two of seven targets (INNF 17.1), such as £50,000 invested, £1m revenue or 10 jobs created.
