🍻Ale real privilege to carry out a drone inspection of the historic Little Coggeshall Brewery in Essex.

Founded in the 18th century by Henry Skingley, the brewery has a fascinating history. Brewing eventually ceased around 1940, but during the Second World War the site was kept in working order as a “shadow brewery”, ready to take over production should Greene King’s main brewery be damaged by enemy bombing.

Today, the Grade II listed former brewery has been converted into a beautiful residential home, retaining many of its original features and industrial character.

Perhaps the most distinctive feature is the towering original brewery chimney. Once an essential part of the brewing process, its base has since been given a rather different purpose, it now forms the downstairs loo!

Our drone inspection for WRIGHT SURVEYS LTD gave us a fantastic opportunity to view the building and its historic roof and chimney from above, while capturing detailed imagery of areas that would otherwise be difficult to access.

A fascinating property to inspect and a great piece of local brewing history.

Today we carried out an annual drone roof inspection of a large apartment building on behalf of the resident-owned management company.

Following the inspection, a RICS report will be prepared, with particular focus on the condition of the flat roof section to support the management company’s insurance requirements.

Regular drone inspections provide a safe and efficient way to monitor roof condition, identify developing defects and maintain a clear record of changes year on year.

Some buildings are more than bricks and mortar. They are part of our heritage.

Churches are among Britain’s most distinctive examples of historic architecture, with intricate stonework, towers, spires, slate and lead roofs that can be difficult, costly and time consuming to inspect using traditional access methods.

Drone inspections offer a safe and efficient alternative, allowing detailed assessment of roofs, masonry, gutters, flashings and other hard to reach areas without scaffolding or intrusive access.

For churches undergoing restoration, conservation work or routine maintenance, high resolution aerial imagery can help identify defects early, document deterioration and give surveyors and conservation teams the information they need to plan repairs.

The earth might be scorched, but allotment owners are still keeping their fingers green. 🌱

Despite more than 35 days without measurable rainfall, with 0.0 mm recorded throughout July and so far in August, local growers are continuing to produce an impressive supply of fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers.

The Met Office has provisionally recorded July 2026 as the driest July on record for both England and Wales. Southern England experienced its driest month ever recorded in a series dating back to 1836.

It takes real dedication to keep an allotment thriving in conditions like these, but the growers of Lexden and Colchester are proving that even during one of the driest spells on record, the harvest can still go on. 🍅🥕🥒

First annual full commercial drone roof inspection completed on behalf of a property management company based in Birmingham.

The inspection included a detailed assessment of:

• Roof sheet condition and any areas of coating delamination
• Sheet laps
• Eaves edges
• Flashings
• Fixings
• Roof penetrations
• Junctions
• Gutters and rainwater drainage

A small number of roof sheets were found to have localised coating delamination. However, the roof was generally found to be in good overall condition.

Annual drone inspections provide a safe and cost effective way to monitor roof condition, identify developing defects and help property managers plan maintenance before more significant issues arise.

We returned to Norwich to carry out a comprehensive roof survey of the main building, including the former warden’s bungalow and the communal lounge at the front.

The site is a complex, multi-level scheme constructed in 1972, with the main building still retaining its original roof.

Our detailed RICS report covered all key aspects, including condition, identified defects, construction materials, estimated lifespan, and an assessment of the roof’s suitability for Solar PV installation.
