Nicholas Percival has successfully LET part of the former Mill Race Garden Centre, New Road, Aldham, Colchester CO6 3QT, to Mill Race Moto – an exciting new automotive bakery, café and restaurant concept.
Opening in September 2026, Mill Race Moto will combine an in-house artisan bakery and specialty café with classic and high performance cars, motorcycles and memorabilia on display. Guests can enjoy fresh pastries, coffee and local beers in a unique setting, with regular car and bike meets planned. The premises extend to approximately 7,000 sq ft with ample parking and outdoor seating.
Acting for the landlord David Thompson, Nicholas Percival marketed the opportunity, introduced the tenant and negotiated a 10-year lease (inside the Landlord and Tenant Act) on a stepped rent to help support the business in its infancy.
David Thompson said: “Mill Race Moto will be a real destination – drawing visitors from Colchester and much further afield. A very exciting venture.”
Tom Noble MRICS, Commercial Managing Director at Nicholas Percival, added: “This is a fantastic addition to the west side of Colchester. The bakery, food offering and atmosphere created by the cars and bikes will be hard to beat.”
Further development of Mill Race Business & Leisure Park is already underway, with a pre-application submitted for a business centre. Interest from other commercial operators is strong, thanks to the site’s excellent location between Colchester, Chelmsford, Witham, Braintree, Sudbury and Halstead.
Mill Race Business Hospitality & Leisure Park is one to watch.
