It was exciting this month for us Charlene Ash and Stephen Ash the Directors of Calon Law to head to the Antiques Roadshow at Caerphilly Castle with the children. It's a rare occasion for the Antiques Roadshow to come to Wales and I love the history and the stories behind these valuable items. .ash80 is passionate about genealogy and family history which works well with her legal expertise and it can be so interesting to look back over the years.

It was a lovely sunny day in Caerphilly and we had many TV personalities at Caerphilly Castle. We were lucky to be in the audience for a session filming with .bruce about architectural findings at the castle. We sat with Eric Knowles and chatted about ceramics.

Our little boy loves the Castle and its so good to have that welsh history here in our town. Caerphilly Castle is the largest castle in Wales and the second largest in Britain. It dates back to 1268 when it was built by Gilbert de Clare. The castle was attacked by the Welshprice Llywelyn ap Gruffydd.

World IVF Day 2026

This day is so important to me .ash80 not just on a professional front as the founder of Calon Law, for my business and as a fertility lawyer but ...... personally for me, IVF and surrogacy is the whole reason that my family exists and I have my two beautiful children. I am so grateful to the scientists, the fertility experts, the fertility clinics, our special fertility nurse, the embryologists, the fact that IVF is even possible today and it brings joy to so many families.

It was on 25 July 1978 that Louise Joy Brown was born, the first baby born through IVF, the process was developed by Patrick Steptoe, Jean Purdy and Robert Edwards. It was marked as one of the most remarkable medical breakthroughs of the 20th century. The world's first test tube baby.

This breakthrough changed the fertility world, and had a huge impact on infertility, baby loss and miscarriage. Specialised fertility clinics became widespread in the 1980s and ICSI was introduced in 1992.

Millions of babies have been born through IVF and there are many specialised units through England and Wales. Give a shout out for your favourite clinic.

What a change of roles in the Cabinet! Is it a brutal cull of Starmer allies and Burnham friends and colleagues rewarded for their allegiance or the right people for the right roles. Time will tell.

The last two days have seen some big names leave their cabinet positions. Gone are Rachel Reeves, David Lammy, Liz Kendall, Jo Stevens, Darren Jones.

We have some new names:

Chancellor - John Healey

Foreign Secretary - Ed Miliband

Defence Secretary - Wes Streeting

Is more change to follow? I think we can certainly say yesterday to that question as Burnham is already making decisions about big topics. Redirecting part of the Government headquarters to Manchester so there will be a Number 10 North.

Today marks the introduction of a new Prime Minister for the Country as Andy Burnham starts his first day in number 10. Keir Starmer has resigned and we say farewell and thank him for his service.

There has been some controversy about Burnham's appointment as there has been no general election, he hasn't been appointed by the people and he has succeeded Keir Starmer through a leadership challenge.

This leads to a change in cabinet and Burnham has kept his senior roles secret until today. He today met with King Charles III and became the 59th Prime Minister.

Rachel Reeves has been replaced as Chancellor by John Healey. Ed Miliband becomes Foreign Secretary. Yvette Cooper is moved to Health Secretary. Shabana Mahmood stays as Home Secretary. Lots of change. But now Parliament breaks up for the summer recess and we won't see much until they return in September.

But what comes next? What do we know about Burnham's policies and plans for government? Will there be tax reforms and rises or will there be savings for living costs for the working people. Let's wait and see.

Calon Law were so pleased to support our local primary school in Caerphilly this month. We were the Gold Sponsor for the Cwrt Rawlin School Summer Fayre. Charlene and Stephen had a great time. There were lots of exciting activities for the children, a bouncy castle, lots of play activities, we watched the mini athletics and the dancing events. There was a fab raffle and tombola. It was a super day.

The teachers even volunteered to go in the stocks as the pupils threw water soaked sponges at them. You can see this is a great school with lots of amazing teachers.

Yay it's the day! It's the Cwrt Rawlin Summer Fayre today. We are getting ready to head over to the big event at Cwrt Rawlin Primary School Castle View Caerphilly CF83 1SN.

The sun is shining, it's going to be such a lovely day of fun and games.

Happy Anniversary my love, my best friend my soul mate.

11 years ago we got married and that was one of my best life choices ever!

You have been my rock, my confidant, my life and the best thing I ever did was to find you. We've had curveballs thrown at us, health issues, surrogacy and we've stood strong through it all. It's amazing now to see you not only be an amazing husband but a loving caring daddy to Brandon and Melissa. Nothing is too much for you.
