A very warm welcome to our new colleagues from Stevens Son & Pope (SS&P), who became part of Coole Bevis LLP last week.

SS&P had been advising clients in the Burgess Hill area since 1897, with the firm’s roots stretching back to 1782. Renowned for their professional and friendly service, the firm specialised in Private Client and Residential Property matters.

“This is an exciting new chapter for SS&P,” said Yvonne Cordwell. “Although our name and office will change, our commitment to our clients and the local community will not. We are delighted to be staying in Burgess Hill and look forward to the opportunities ahead.”

Against a backdrop of increasing regulation, rising operating costs and rapid advances in technology, the legal sector continues to evolve. Congratulations to Lauren Waller who has been promoted to Associate Solicitor in our Private Client department. Lauren qualified in January 2024 and now specialises in Court of Protection work. This promotion recognises Lauren’s growth in technical knowledge and experience, and her excellent demeanour with clients. Lauren is a brilliant role model to colleagues in her department and the wider firm.

We would also like to share that Holly Martin has been promoted to HR Officer. Holly joined Coole Bevis in April 2024. She has grown in confidence and experience, and has been praised for her flexibility in supporting HR activity. Holly recently obtained her Level 5 Certificate with the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD).

We’re incredibly proud of both Lauren and Holly’s progress. Well done!

We are delighted to announce that long-established Burgess Hill law firm Stevens Son & Pope (SS&P) has become part of Coole Bevis LLP.

Six members of the SS&P team have joined us, including Yvonne Cordwell and Christopher Cossey as Partners, further strengthening our Private Client and Residential Property teams.

The acquisition marks another important step in our continued growth and our expansion into Mid Sussex, as we prepare to open our new Burgess Hill office in early 2027.

This new accreditation qualifies Sue to hold Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings (MIAMs) and offer the Government’s £500 Family Mediation Voucher Scheme in mediations relating to children.
