One event. Hundreds of stories. Let’s help them travel.
At last Monday’s East African Asians event at the Skyline Hotel, we produced 300 copies of Shanti, Peace, Now and After 2026, a beautifully produced book celebrating businesses, experiences and stories from across the East African Asian community.

Navigate Business Recovery was proud to be included across two pages, with one page featuring our business and services and the other containing an editorial on the growing financial pressures facing UK businesses.

I bought several copies because I genuinely think this is a publication worth sharing.

Perfect for an office, on a desk or in a reception area, and businesses may also wish to give copies to existing clients, prospective clients, colleagues or friends.

It would be lovely to see the book reaching East African Asian families, businesses and communities across the UK and further afield, so that the stories and achievements within it continue to be shared beyond the event itself.

Copies are available for £10 each, including postage.

For orders of more than 10 copies that can be collected, the price is £7.50 per copy.

Please message me or Harshad if you would like to purchase a copy.

Let's put Shanti in everyone's homes 🏡

“The company borrowed the money, so why are they coming after me personally?”

It’s a question I’ve heard from directors more times than you might think.

Personal guarantees are often signed when finance is being arranged and business is moving quickly. At the time, very few directors imagine the day when that guarantee might actually be called in.

But when it is, the consequences can suddenly become very personal.

Before you panic or agree to anything, understand exactly what you signed.

What does the guarantee cover?
Is there a limit?
When can the lender enforce it?
And what do the documents actually say?

We recently helped a director in exactly this position. After reviewing the documentation and challenging several points, we were able to help negotiate a more manageable outcome.

My advice: don’t ignore a personal guarantee demand, but don’t assume the first demand is the final position either.

If you’ve been contacted about a personal guarantee, speak to us confidentially on 0330 236 9937.

HMRC problems rarely start with enforcement. They usually start much earlier.

We recently helped a restaurant owner after several years of tax arrears had become unmanageable and enforcement was approaching.

The situation hadn’t developed overnight, and neither would the solution.

We worked through the historic issues, corrected errors and helped put together a structured plan.

I’ve shared 10 practical lessons from the case in this post because many of them apply to any business facing HMRC pressure.

The biggest one?

Act early. Keep accurate records. And don’t make promises the business cannot afford to keep.

If HMRC pressure is building, getting advice before enforcement begins can make a real difference.

This is where I think many directors running multiple companies can get caught out.

If enforcement agents attend one company, it doesn’t automatically mean every company in the group is liable.

Each company is normally its own legal entity, with its own assets, liabilities and creditors.

The difficulty comes when businesses share premises, vehicles, equipment or staff and nobody can clearly show which company owns what.

That paperwork can become very important, very quickly.

If you run several companies, make sure the ownership of your assets is clear before financial pressure or enforcement arrives.

If you’re facing enforcement action and are unsure where you stand, speak to us confidentially:

I don’t think enough people talk about what can happen years after a liquidation.

For many directors, once the company is closed, they understandably believe that chapter is finished.

Sometimes, however, questions can arise much later.

If that happens, don’t panic and don’t rush your response. Your records, correspondence and the reasons behind decisions made at the time can all be important.

If the Insolvency Service has contacted you, speak to me confidentially before responding.

Sometimes the biggest result isn’t the debt being dealt with. It’s getting your life back.

A client came to us with around £1.6 million of debt, enforcement action already underway and real concern about losing the family home.

We stepped in, handled the creditors and managed the process carefully.

Around 12 months later, the debt had been dealt with and he kept his home.

His words stayed with me:

“I can finally breathe again.”

That is why we do what we do.

The creditor making the most noise isn’t always the one posing the biggest risk.

When a business is under pressure, payment decisions need strategy, not panic. Directors should understand which creditors can act, how quickly they can act, and what that could mean for the business.

The question isn’t just “Who is shouting today?”
It’s “Whose action could limit our options tomorrow?”

When business pressure builds, waiting can reduce your options.

HMRC chasing? Creditor pressure? Cash flow concerns? Personal guarantees?

The earlier you seek advice, the more options you may have.

At Navigate Business Recovery, we help directors understand their position and find a practical way forward — starting with a confidential conversation.

Apparently, a few weeks away from making videos counts as a sabbatical in my world! 😄

But Peter and Vee are back — and we have plenty to talk about.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be covering some serious subjects, including bankruptcy, directors who leave everything to someone else, procrastination, and those HMRC letters that somehow find their way into a drawer and stay there!

These are serious issues, but that doesn’t mean we can’t explain them in a simple, practical and occasionally entertaining way.

Expect useful information, practical tips, a little nonsense from us both… and apparently Karen may be joining us too. 😂

Keep an eye out for the next Peter & Vee video.
