Sawiris Foundation for Social Development Reducing Multidimensional Poverty and Empowering Agents of Change SFSD is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. Mrs.

As a grant-making foundation and one of the first family donor foundations, it is set up with an endowment from the Sawiris Family. SFSD is supervised by a board of trustees, managed by Eng. Noura Selim, and staffed by a team of committed individuals. The foundation’s management structure consists of four departments:

Our mission is to contribute to Egypt’s development, create sustainable job opportunities, and empower citizens to build productive lives that realize their full potential. We support initiatives that encourage job creation through training, education and access to microcredit. We also enhance efforts to improve health and further the endeavours of local communities to improve infrastructure and gain access to basic services — two important prerequisites for higher productivity and the increased empowerment of citizens. Early Years

The Sawiris Foundation was founded in April 2001 as a grant-making foundation. Set up with an endowment from the Sawiris family – which is made up of prominent members of the business world and the development community - it is one of the first family donor foundations dedicated to social development to be established in Egypt. In 2005, the Foundation was granted special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The Sawiris Foundation’s focus, mission and work have evolved from the collective thinking of like-minded individuals within the international development community. Yousriya Loza Sawiris, founding chair of the Association for the Protection of the Environment (APE), and the late Dr. Ibrahim Shihata, Senior Vice-President and General Counsel of the World Bank, began the dialogue and thinking of how to shape the Foundation. They were further encouraged in their efforts by the collaboration of advocates such as Mrs. Mary Asaad, a community development expert, and the late Dr. John Gerhart, former President of the American University in Cairo (AUC). Dr. Shihata helped codify the Foundation’s by-laws and processes, and recruited the members of its Board of Trustees and the Foundation’s first Executive Director. All board members are leaders of Egyptian society and experts in their field.

احتفل المعهد الفني للتمريض بالجونة (GTNI) بيوم التمريض من خلال يوم استثنائي سلّط الضوء على التجارب والقصص التي تشكّل رحلة الطلبة.

تضمن اليوم عرض مسرحي من الطلاب، وعروض لتجاربهم خلال التدريب بالمستشفيات، إلى جانب مسابقة شعر تناولت دور الممرضين في حماية حقوق المرضى، وأنشطة فنية خلقت مساحة للتعبير عن إبداعهم ومناقشة الجانب الإنساني للمهنة.

The Gouna Technical Nursing Institute (GTNI) celebrated Nurses Day by honoring the individuals and experiences shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

The day featured a student-led theatrical sketch, a gallery where students shared personal stories from their hospital trainings, a poetry competition highlighting nurses’ role in advocating for patients, and artistic activities that created space for students to express their creativity, and the human side of the nursing profession.

شراكات لتعظيم الأثر 🤝

جدّدت مؤسسة ساويرس وشركة إكسون موبيل مصر شراكتهما ضمن برنامج «باب أمل»، بهدف توسيع نطاق الدعم للأسر الأولى بالرعاية في محافظة أسيوط.

وبهذا التمديد، يصل إجمالي الأسر التي تدعمها الشراكة إلى 122 أسرة من الأسر الأكثر احتياجًا، وتنفذ جمعية عطاء بلا حدود البرنامج في أسيوط عبر مسارات متكاملة تشمل الحماية الاجتماعية، وتعزيز سبل كسب العيش، والشمول المالي، والتمكين الاجتماعي، إلى جانب بناء قدرات الشركاء المحليين لضمان استدامة الأثر.

وتصل مساهمة إكسون موبيل مصر إلى 4 مليون جنيه مصري، مع استمرار التعاون حتى نوفمبر 2028، بما يعكس التزامًا مشتركًا ببناء حلول طويلة المدى تُمكّن الأسر من الخروج من دائرة الفقر نحو الاستقرار والاستقلالية.

لأن الشراكات الفعّالة توسّع الأثر وتخلق فرصًا أكثر استدامة لحياة كريمة.



Partnerships for greater impact 🤝

Sawiris Foundation and ExxonMobil Egypt renewed their partnership to expand support for vulnerable families in Assiut Governorate through the Bab Amal Program.

With this extension, the partnership now supports a total of 122 ultra-poor households with the Giving Without Limits Association implementing the program in Assiut through an integrated approach that includes social protection, livelihood promotion, financial inclusion, and social empowerment, along with strengthening the capacities of local partners to ensure sustainable impact.

ExxonMobil Egypt’s total
contribution has now reached EGP 4 million, with collaboration continuing until November 2028, reflecting a shared commitment to building long-term solutions that move families from poverty to stability and self-reliance.

Because strong partnerships expand impact and create opportunities for a better life.

The opening ceremony of Saison Méditerranée 2026, held under the high patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron, included opening speeches by Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs; Catherine Pégard, Minister of Culture; Benoît Payan, Mayor of Marseille; and Eva Nguyen Binh, President of the Institut français.

بعد حفل التخرج، قام الضيوف بجولة داخل المدرسة الألمانية الفندقية بالجونة للتعرف على نموذجها التعليمي، ومرافقها التدريبية، وبيئة التعلم العملية التي تؤهل الطلاب للنجاح في قطاع الضيافة.

واختُتم اليوم بعشاء خاص تولى الطلاب إعداده وتقديمه، عارضين ما اكتسبوه من مهارات وشغف واحترافية خلال رحلتهم الدراسية.

Following the graduation ceremony, guests toured the German Hotel School El Gouna to learn more about the school’s education model, training facilities, and the practical learning environment that prepares students for careers in the hospitality sector.

The day concluded with a special dinner prepared and served by the students, offering them the opportunity to showcase the skills, passion, and professionalism they developed throughout their academic journey.

احتفلت مؤسسة ساويرس للتنمية الاجتماعية والمدرسة الألمانية الفندقية بالجونة بتخريج دفعة 2025/2026، وهي الدفعة الـ22 في مسيرة المدرسة.

مع انضمام هذه الدفعة، يصل إجمالي خريجي المدرسة إلى 1,112، من بينهم 200 خريج يعملون حاليًا في ألمانيا.

this new class, brings the total number of graduates to 1,112, including 200 alumni currently working in Germany.

يسر مؤسسة ساويرس الإعلان عن دعمها لموسم البحر الأبيض المتوسط 2026، الذي يبدأ اليوم في مدينة مرسيليا الفرنسية، وهي مبادرة ثقافية يقودها المعهد الفرنسي، تجمع فنانين ومبدعين وباحثين من مختلف دول البحر الأبيض المتوسط لاستكشاف تنوع المنطقة والتأمل في قضايا الهوية والهجرة وصياغة المستقبل المشترك.
يقام الموسم في الفترة من 15 مايو إلى 31 أكتوبر 2026، ويضم أكثر من 200 فعالية في أكثر من 60 مدينة في فرنسا، بهدف تعزيز الحوار الثقافي، ودعم مشاركة الشباب، وتوسيع آفاق التعاون بين ضفتي البحر الأبيض المتوسط، خاصة مع مصر والمغرب والجزائر وتونس ولبنان.

The Sawiris Foundation is proud to be sponsoring Saison Méditerranée 2026, which launches today in Marseille, France, a cultural initiative led by the Institut français, bringing together artists, creators, researchers, and innovators from across the Mediterranean to explore the region’s diversity and reflect on themes of identity, migration, storytelling, and collective futures.

Taking place from 15 May to 31 October 2026, the Season will feature more than 200 events across 60+ cities in France, fostering cultural dialogue, youth engagement, and cooperation between both shores of the Mediterranean, particularly with Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, and Lebanon.

By supporting projects connected to Egypt within this regional platform, the Foundation aims to empower creative talent and contribute to building more inclusive and connected communities.
