Data centri postaju jedna od ključnih infrastruktura savremene digitalne ekonomije, od AI sistema i cloud servisa do digitalizacije javnih i privatnih usluga.
💧 potrošnje vode i sistema hlađenja
🌱 energetske efikasnosti i ESG standarda

______
Data centres are becoming one of the key infrastructures of the modern digital economy - powering AI systems, cloud services, and the digitalisation of both public and private sectors.
At the same time, their rapid expansion is raising important questions related to:
⚡ electricity consumption
💧 water use and cooling systems
🌱 energy efficiency and ESG standards
🔌 grid connection and energy infrastructure
📜 as well as new EU regulatory and climate requirements.
In our new article, we explore:
▪ how the European Union is regulating the sustainability of data centres,
▪ why AI is reshaping Europe’s energy landscape,
▪ what the new EU energy efficiency rules mean,
▪ and how these developments may impact Serbia and the Western Balkans.
The question is no longer whether data centres will continue to expand — but how to develop them in a sustainable way and in line with long-term energy and climate goals.
