We continue to have callers who base their phone call timing on AI advice. Telling them that they missed a limitation date or let someone die so an estate claim can be pursued is heartbreaking.

When you have been injured, it seems impossible to figure out where to start. Not only are you dealing with pain and doctors appointments, you may be bombarded with phone calls and correspondence from your and the other parties insurance company.

Getting representation can stop the phone calls. Consider retaining Michelle Brown. Durham Region is where her home and office are, with the added bonus of home or hospital visits if necessary.

The most important takeaway from this series is the Statue of Limitations. If you wish to sue any person or entity you have two (2) years from the incident giving rise to the cause of action. If a claim is not issued by the Superior Court on or before that time even the best lawyer cannot help.

Thankfully, the limitation for Asbestos disease is two years from diagnosis.

Do you feel like you are being watched? If you have an ongoing injury claim, it's possible. We get calls when surveillance is underway from very upset clients.

What we tell them is this. If you are not doing anything you said you could not do, the suveillance will support your claim so just wave at the investigator to let them know you are aware they are there and carry on.

The goal is to view you doing something you said you cannot do; lift heavy bags of groceries, walk the length of the mall without sitting for a break or playing sports with your children. You may only be doing those things for a "try" or a one off, but a video of you doing something you said you are completely unable to do will bring your credibility into question.

If you are purchasing travel insurance for you summer vacation we have learned that many large insurers, including Manulife, Sun Life and Desjarden, are adding the current jet fuel shortage as a "known event". This means that if your vacation is cancelled or delayed by the lack of fuel to get your plane off the ground, you are not covered for this circumstance.

Read and understand your policy. If you know the cost vs. coverage implications you are less likely to be caught unaware if something goes wrong during your travels.
