🇨🇦 British Columbia is prioritizing healthcare & childcare workers in its 2026 immigration plans!
British Columbia has announced its 2026 nomination targets under the BC Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP), with healthcare professionals and early childhood educators receiving a significant share of the province’s immigration allocation.
🔹 Healthcare workers: 1,620–2,015 nominations
🔹 Early Childhood Educators (NOC 42202): 360–440 nominations
🔹 Total BCPNP allocation: 6,254 nominations
Together, healthcare workers and ECEs could account for approximately 31.7%–39.3% of B.C.’s total 2026 nomination allocation.
The priority healthcare occupations include registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physicians, dentists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, medical technologists, social workers, paramedics and several other healthcare professions.
For ECEs, applicants must hold a one- or five-year ECE certificate issued by the B.C. ECE Registry. Certain healthcare occupations also have specific registration or certification requirements.
📍 Regional workers are also a priority. B.C. expects at least 35% of skilled worker nominations to go to candidates working outside Metro Vancouver.
As of August 25, 2026, B.C. had already invited 474 priority healthcare workers and 451 early childhood educators to apply for provincial nomination.
⚠️ Important: Having an occupation on the priority list does not automatically guarantee an invitation or permanent residence. Eligibility, job offer, registration/certification, work experience, language ability, score and other program requirements still apply.
