Did you get married over a video call while living in different countries?

Proxy and online marriages became hugely popular over the last few years,
but there is a massive trap waiting for anyone applying for Canadian Permanent
Residency.

Even if your online marriage is 100% legal where it was registered, IRCC does not
recognize it and will automatically reject your spousal sponsorship application.

Watch the video to see the only legal exception to this rule and what you need to
do to save your application!

Do you think you need a full-time job to sponsor your spouse to Canada?

A lot of young Canadians assume they have to wait until they graduate and secure a salary before they can apply for spousal sponsorship.

Here is the truth: Under Canadian immigration law, relying on government student loans does NOT count as social assistance. You don’t need to drop out or hit a massive income threshold to bring your partner home. You just need a reasonable plan for how you will support yourselves once they arrive.

Watch the video to see how you can sponsor your spouse while still in university!

A lot of people assume that if they receive disability benefits, they are
automatically disqualified from sponsoring their spouse to Canada.
This is actually one of the biggest myths that often separates families.

The strict rule against social assistance has a massive exception:
Disability support counts as an exception, not standard welfare.
Receiving provincial disability assistance will not automatically
trigger a refusal.

Don’t let bad advice stop you from building your future together
in Canada. Watch the video to understand your rights!

Imagine pausing your spousal sponsorship application just because you had a baby and went on maternity leave. 🍼

Many people think receiving Employment Insurance (EI) counts as government welfare and will get their application rejected.

That is a massive myth!

Canadian immigration explicitly allows you to sponsor your spouse while on maternity, parental, or regular EI. In fact, maternity benefits can even count toward your income.

Don’t let bad advice keep your family separated longer than necessary!

A client booked a virtual consultation with Goose Law excited to finally sponsor his wife to Canada, but he ended the call in complete heartbreak.

Years ago, while his own Permanent Residence application was almost finished, he got married. He didn’t tell Canadian immigration because he was terrified it would delay his PR approval. He thought, “I’ll just get my PR first, and then sponsor her right after.”

Hiding or forgetting a major life change just to avoid processing delays can permanently destroy your family’s future in Canada.
Don’t make an irreversible mistake with your application!

A client walked into Goose Law completely confused.
He had just married the love of his life and applied to bring her to Canada.

Then the worst happened: his spousal sponsorship application was rejected flat-out.

The reason? He was a few months behind on his child support payments from a previous relationship. He actually thought Canadian immigration wouldn’t check his family court records. Big mistake!

Here is the hard truth: Canadian law is incredibly strict about your financial duties to your previous family. If a court ordered you to pay child support or alimony and you fall behind, you cannot sponsor anyone. It is an automatic NO. You are legally blocked from sponsoring your new partner until you completely resolve the issue and pay back exactly what you owe.

Sponsorship has so many hidden rules. Don’t navigate it blindly and risk your new family’s future!

Story time!! A client came to us in tears after losing thousands of dollars.

A few years ago, she got her Canadian PR because her ex-husband
sponsored her. They eventually divorced, she met someone new, got
remarried, and applied to sponsor her new husband.

She thought everything was perfect. But her application was instantly
refused!
Why? Because she fell into the 5-Year Trap.

Under Canadian immigration rules, if you got your PR by being sponsored
as a spouse, you are legally banned from sponsoring a new partner for 5
full years from the day you became a Permanent Resident.

It does not matter if your divorce is legal and your new marriage is 100%
real. You cannot speed up the clock. If you apply early, you will just get a
guaranteed refusal and lose your application fees.

Sponsorship rules are tricky, and making a mistake is expensive.

Story time: A client came to us last year in total shock.

He had sponsored his wife for Canadian PR, but they got
divorced a year later. He thought, “Okay, clean break, we’re done!”

Wrong!

A few months later, his ex-wife applied for government welfare.
The government then sent HIM a massive bill for thousands of dollars.

Here’s the truth: when you sponsor a spouse in Canada, you sign a
3-year financial promise to the government. And a divorce does
NOT cancel it! If your ex gets social assistance during those 3 years,
you have to pay back every single cent.

Sponsorship is a massive legal risk if you don’t know the rules.
Don’t let this happen to you! Speak to an Immigration lawyer today.

Join my FREE Spousal Sponsorship Webinar! I’ll teach you how the
process actually works so you can protect yourself and get your PR
approved safely.
