Remote work arrangements continue to shape the modern workplace, but a recent BC Court of Appeal decision highlights the importance of clearly managing changes to employment terms.

In Cressey Construction Corporation v. Parolin, the court found that requiring an employee to return to the office full-time without reasonable notice could amount to constructive dismissal when working from home had become an established term of employment.

We've strengthened our experienced litigation team even further.

Please join us in welcoming Jaclyn Watters, who advises clients on construction disputes, corporate and commercial disputes, product liability, and personal injury.

Jaclyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Behavioural Neuroscience from Simon Fraser University before completing her Juris Doctor and Professional Doctorate in Law at Queen's University Belfast in Northern Ireland. After completing her articles, she was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 2022 before joining Pushor Mitchell a few weeks ago.

Prior to joining the firm, Jaclyn gained broad experience in private practice across plaintiff class actions, civil litigation, construction and contract disputes, builders' lien matters, family law, and immigration appeals. She also served as a Provincial Crown Prosecutor, with a particular focus on matters involving the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Jaclyn is committed to providing well-rounded and practical advice to clients.

Jaclyn is excited to be practising in British Columbia.

Outside the office, Jaclyn enjoys exploring the Okanagan, spending time with family, and going on road trips.
