The latest Canadian Experience Class round under Express Entry issued 1,000 invitations to apply, with a CRS cutoff of 523, one of the higher cutoff scores seen this year. With invitation numbers staying limited, competition for CEC candidates remains tight.

In coming videos I will discuss what this cutoff score means for your CRS ranking, why the limited number of invitations matters if you’re sitting close to the cutoff, and why upcoming changes expected to Express Entry this fall could affect these numbers going forward.

Work Permit Expiring Soon? Here’s How CEC + Bridging Open Work Permits Can Save Your Status 🌉

Apply for your CEC application before your current permit expires, and you can request a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP). This keeps you working legally in Canada while your permanent residence application is processed even after your original permit runs out.

Miss that window, and you’re stuck relying on implied status which only extends your existing permit conditions. No bridging permit. And if you’re on an employer-specific work permit, implied status keeps you locked into that exact job with zero flexibility.

Bottom line: apply late, and you risk losing your legal right to work in Canada while your PR application sits in the queue.

If your work permit expires in the next 6 months and you think CEC might apply to you, this is not something to put off.

Recent Ontario Grad With a Job Offer? Your Work Experience Requirement Depends on the TEER Category

A lot of recent Ontario graduates assume the 3-month work experience rule applies across the board, it doesn’t. Under the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream, that shorter graduate timeline is specific to TEER 0-3 job offers. If your job offer falls under TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3, you need at least 3 months of consecutive, paid, full-time work experience in the position listed on your job offer, gained within the 12 months before you submit your application.

If your job offer is TEER 4 or 5, that graduate exception doesn’t carry over to your work experience requirement. You’ll need 9 months of cumulative, paid, full-time work experience in the job-offer position, gained within the last 2 years — regardless of your graduate status.

Before you plan your application timeline, confirm which TEER category your job offer sits in. That one detail changes how much experience you need to have banked.

Anti-Immigration Group Plans Hamilton-Area Conference

A group calling for the deportation of millions of immigrants says it plans to hold a conference in the Hamilton area on August 29.

Local anti-racism organizations are urging businesses and venues not to host the event. They have also developed a guide aimed at helping businesses identify and avoid inadvertently renting space to organizations they say promote hate.

This is exactly why IRCC keeps everyone on their toes. A category can sit dormant for months, then hit with zero warning. Whether you’re in Transport, Healthcare, Trades, or CEC staying pool-ready is the only real strategy.

OINP just launched their new EOI system.

If you’re trying to immigrate to Ontario through the PNP, read on.

Despite telling stakeholders they’d give advance notice — OINP opened the new EOI system today. No warning. No heads up. Nothing.

Here’s what changed:

1️⃣ There’s a brand new stream — the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream
2️⃣ The EOI scoring system has been revised
3️⃣ And employers — this is critical — you now need to submit an offer of employment through the Employer Portal BEFORE your employee can even register an EOI

Good news if you already had a portal account, your old credentials still work.

But here’s what nobody’s talking about: registering an EOI does NOT mean you’re getting invited.

We still don’t know:

❌ How often draws will happen
❌ Whether certain occupations get prioritized
❌ Whether certain regions get prioritized

And provincial programs have ALWAYS had more eligible candidates than spots available. As the eligibility bar drops, competition goes UP, not down.

Think all your degrees add up for Alberta PNP points? They don’t. Here’s the actual rule. 👇

AAIP education points are awarded based on your HIGHEST level of education only, whether it was obtained in Canada or internationally.

That means:

x Lower credentials don’t add extra points
x A diploma before your degree doesn’t count separately
x A bachelor’s before your master’s doesn’t count separately

✅ Only your highest credential is assessed for points

This applies the same way whether your education was completed in Canada or abroad.

If your occupation falls into one of these sectors, your profile may be more competitive than you think. Program-specific streams like AAIP don’t always follow Express Entry logic.
