A 1960s metal façade was recently removed from this historic bank building in Richmond, Indiana, revealing the former Second National Bank underneath.

Built in 1910, the neoclassical façade had been hidden since 1964 — covered by a mid-century slipcover with a repeating diamond pattern. Nearly 60 years later, the original architecture is visible again.

This Edmonton bungalow has us buzzing over mid-century modern design. 🐝

Mid-century modern has mastered something few eras ever could: a flawless blend of nostalgia, warmth, and practical design.

The magic of a MCM home lies in its restraint, letting the natural beauty of the materials do the heavy lifting. Think: clean lines and earthy backdrops of wood and stone, contrasting perfectly with geometric shapes and saturated pops of colour.

And 10506 137th Street leans into it all. 🏠

From the low-sloped roofline and statement chartreuse door to the blonde brick fireplace, bold tile, and open-weave wooden screens, every detail in this Glenora bungalow is mid-century modern to its core.

Remember, when someone wins with 10% of the vote, they can’t ignore the 90% who couldn’t make it.

With so many councillors and Mayor posting random stuff without asking anyone (nor is the city) - that’s against the code of conduct. The province is bringing in an new one, and this one isn’t run by the city itself - it’s external. So no more games can be played. Fix the roads, clear the snow, run projects on budget and mitigate tax increases.

It’s not right they censor, block, ignore and only talk to the 10% that support their personal motives. That’s not representation. Ask, listen, formulate, share, don’t be biased.

And for admin, they 100% work for the taxpayer. We need to stop the secrets, fake reports and misleading commentary. That’s the roll of governance, take control of admin. Or perhaps move to get senior rolls elected rolls under the MGA to get some accountability back.

(( The city data doesn’t break down percentage total eligible voters by ward, so I assumed the city average. The mayor is accurate. ))

Community leagues aren’t always top of mind when searching for a new home... but they deserve to be.

Edmonton is renowned for its active participation in community leagues, with residents who don’t just sign up—they show up.

Dating back to Edmonton’s first in 1917, community leagues shape how neighbourhoods function, providing spaces, programs, and connections that turn streets into communities. 🌳

This week on the Edmonton Real Estate Blog, we’re sharing a few community leagues worth visiting to help you decide which feels like home.

Common English House Types — understanding the language of residential architecture 🏡

From compact cottages to elegant mews houses, English homes are shaped by centuries of urban growth, social history, and evolving lifestyles. Each type has its own spatial logic, architectural character, and relationship to the street.

🏠 Cottage
Small, cozy homes traditionally associated with rural life, often defined by pitched roofs, chimneys, and intimate interiors.

🏘️ Terraced House
A row of connected homes sharing side walls, common throughout English cities and known for their efficient use of urban space.

🏡 Semi-Detached House
Two homes joined by a shared wall, balancing privacy with affordability and becoming one of the UK’s most recognizable suburban typologies.

🏢 Detached House
A standalone home surrounded by open space on all sides, offering greater privacy and flexibility in layout.

🌿 Bungalow
Typically single-story homes designed for accessibility and simplicity, often connected to garden living and suburban development.

🚪 Mews House
Originally built above or beside horse stables in historic London mews streets, these homes have evolved into highly desirable urban residences full of character.

A simple visual guide that reveals how housing types shape everyday life and the identity of entire neighborhoods.
