A valuable and timely discussion for the not for profit sector, right here in the Illawarra. 🌊

Last night’s panel examined insights from the 2025–26 Not for Profit Governance & Performance Study, with Sophie Ray FAICD, Chair of Warrigal and Peak Care Equipment; Sharon Wingate, President & Chair, Illawarra Academy of Sport; and Phil Butler GAICD, Not for Profit Sector Lead, AICD (pictured), sharing perspectives on the growing demands, risks and opportunities facing NFP boards today — from governance workload and financial sustainability to care outcomes and emerging risks such as cyber, AI and climate governance.

Kells Lawyers and KPMG were proud sponsors of this event, and thank you to The Australia Institute for bringing this important conversation together for our local community.

🌺 ANZAC Day

Today, we pause to remember and honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of the Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women, past and present, who have served our nations.

ANZAC Day is a time for quiet reflection, gratitude, and respect. We remember those who gave their lives, acknowledge those who returned forever changed, and thank those who continue to serve with dedication and bravery.

May we carry their spirit forward through kindness, resilience, and respect for one another and for the freedoms we share.

Lest we forget. 🙏

Members of the Kells team recently attended the The Salvation Army Australia Community Wills Day at Helensburgh Community Centre, supporting an initiative that brings practical legal services into the heart of the community.

Estate Planning lawyer Genevieve Van Yzendoorn (pictured right) volunteered her time on the day, assisting attendees with the preparation of their Wills. It was a valuable opportunity to connect with the local community and contribute professional skills in a meaningful, hands‑on way.
Community Wills Days are a great example of how local organisations, professionals, and volunteers can come together to support people and strengthen community connections.

Kells enjoyed being part of the day and giving back alongside The Salvation Army. 🙏

Kells was proud to attend last night’s inspiring event featuring the extraordinary Moya Dodd AO. Her presentation, “Does Integrity Still Matter?”, offered a powerful reminder that integrity is not just a professional standard, it is a personal compass that shapes how we lead, decide, and show up in the world.

Listening to Moya share her journey, from growing up in South Australia to becoming vice captain of the Matildas and playing in FIFA’s first-ever women’s tournament, was truly remarkable. Her passion for the game and her unwavering commitment to advancing women’s equality across global football shone through every story she told.

Moya’s leadership extends far beyond the pitch. As a long serving board member of Football Australia, Vice President of the Asian Football Confederation, and one of the first women appointed to the FIFA Executive Committee, she has been a driving force for reform, integrity, and inclusion at the highest levels of world football. Her advocacy for women in FIFA and her role in global governance reform have earned her recognition as one of the most influential women in international sport.

Her visit to the Illawarra was a privilege, and her message will continue to guide the way we serve our clients and community, reminding us that integrity is not optional; it is foundational.

A heartfelt thank you to The Illawarra Connection for hosting such an enlightening and impactful evening. And thank you, Moya Dodd, for visiting the shores of the Illawarra. Your presentation will stay with us and continue to illuminate why integrity in one’s actions matters more than ever. 🙏
