This long weekend is linked to the King’s Birthday public holiday, observed across NSW, a time many take to spend with family, enjoy local events, or simply take a well-earned break.

🚗 Double Demerits in force – stay safe this coming long weekend 🚗

Drivers are reminded that double demerit points apply across the King’s Birthday long weekend, with increased enforcement in place to keep everyone safe on the roads.

From 12:01am Friday, 5 June until 11:59pm on Monday 8 June 2026, harsher penalties will apply for offences including:

• Speeding 💨
• illegal mobile phone use 📲
• not wearing a seatbelt (or wearing it incorrectly) 🎟
• riding without a helmet 🏍️

⚠️ Additional penalties may also apply in NSW school zones, so extra care is essential.

This long weekend is a time to relax and enjoy with family and friends, but safety should always come first.

Plan ahead, follow the road rules, and help protect everyone on our roads.

Our estate planning lawyers, Nicki McNamara and Genevieve Van Yzendoorn, recently attended the The Salvation Army Illawarra & South Coast - Public Relations Red Shield Appeal Illawarra Launch – an event dedicated to raising funds for individuals and families facing hardship.

Events like the Red Shield Appeal are vital because they directly fund essential services such as emergency relief, housing support, financial counselling, and community programs. Every dollar raised helps provide practical support to those facing hardship, something that’s more important now than ever.
