My nan would have been 100 today. I always used to say to her, “let’s make a century Cookie.”
She didn’t quite make it, but she got to meet my little Minnie, and out of everything, that was the most important thing to me. When Nan got sick, I asked her to just wait long enough to meet her, so I could tell her that I had named my daughter after her, Minnie Stella. She did, and I’ll be forever grateful for that.
Grief is a funny thing. If you’re a spiritual person, you understand that they’re not really gone, they’re just somewhere better. But that doesn’t make it easy when you can’t pick up the phone like you did every day and talk to them like you always have.
Everybody has lost someone they love, and that’s why I post this. I miss my nan and think about her every single day.
I think if you live your life believing they’re looking down on you, and you ask yourself, “Would they be proud of me?”, it gives you a little bit of extra motivation to keep going and live a life they would be proud of.
Happy heavenly 100th birthday, Cookie ❤️
I miss you every single day
