*NEW OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN OUR TEAM*

We’re looking for a Senior Legal Counsel (complex trials) to join our Criminal Law Division.

In this newly created role, the Senior Legal Counsel will provide advice and representation in the most complex criminal matters with a focus on superior court trial work. They'll also be instrumental in the development and supervision of junior lawyers in our criminal law practice.

We’re looking for an exceptional lawyer with extensive experience and highly developed skills in the conduct of indictable matters progressing to trial in the District and Supreme Court of Western Australia.

A strong background working with complex and vulnerable clients, a genuine commitment to social justice, and the ability to work under pressure managing a busy schedule of trials would make you an ideal candidate for this role.

On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) 15 June, our Elder Rights WA team will be participating in a special event in the Mandurah/Peel community.

To raise awareness and provide information to assist older people in Western Australia to stand up against mistreatment and abuse, we'll delve into Enduring Power of Attorney and Guardianship, detail the rights of older people, and discuss legal issues and elder abuse as a criminal offence.

Marking the significance of Mabo Day.

On 3 June 1992, Torres Strait Islander Eddie Koiki Mabo's campaign for Indigenous land rights resulted in a landmark judgment, where the High Court overturned the legal fiction of “terra nullius” and held that native title existed for all Indigenous people.

Backed by a team of dedicated elders, advocates and supporters, and with a legal team powered by Bryan Keon-Cohen QC, Ron Castan QC, Greg McIntyre and Barbara Hocking, their collective milestone achievement on Mabo Day continues to inspire Indigenous rights campaigns today.

Proud to see our 2026 Street Banner!

This year's banners feature work by talented emerging artist Melissa Sunfly, who is working with Warlayirti Artists in the East Kimberley. A proud Kukatja/Ngardi woman, Melissa is part of a new generation of Aboriginal artists carrying forward powerful stories, deep cultural knowledge, and strong connections to Country through contemporary visual art.

In "Murrunpa", Melissa Sunfly has depicted a story from her late grandfather, Sunfly. This story was shared to her by her grandfather and only family can paint this particular story.
