Registering your relationship may be an important step, especially if you’ve been together for less than 12 months.

💍 A registered relationship provides formal recognition and can be valuable evidence for a Partner Visa (820/801 or 309/100).

⏳ In some circumstances, registration may also mean you don’t need to meet the usual 12-month de facto requirement.

📍 Relationship registration is available in NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, TAS and ACT, subject to each state or territory’s eligibility requirements.

⚠️ Remember: registration alone is not enough. You still need to show that your relationship is genuine and continuing through financial, household, social and commitment evidence.
