From 1 July 2026, new Australian laws will change the way conveyancers handle property transactions.
⚫️WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
At SA WIDE CONVEYANCING, we are legally required to verify your identity before we can commence work on your matter. This is a new requirement under Australia's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) laws and applies across the industry.
⚫️Here's what to expect:
✅ Identity verification must be completed before we can act for you.
✅ You'll need to provide a valid photo ID, such as your driver's licence or passport, and where required, proof of your current address.
✅ The verification process is secure, completed digitally from your phone or device, and generally takes only a few minutes.
⚫️ Why is this necessary?
These new laws are designed to:
🔹 Protect buyers and sellers from fraud and identity theft.
🔹 Help prevent money laundering and other financial crimes through property transactions.
🔹 Ensure conveyancers comply with their legal obligations under Australian law.
These requirements apply to every client and every new matter, even if you've worked with SA WIDE CONVEYANCING before. They are a legal obligation for conveyancing practices across Australia - not just our firm.
