We also found a leak coming from the upstairs apartment, a soft-close door that doesn’t actually close softly, and another door with no stopper to keep it from crashing into the wall. You never quite know what you’ll find.

Behind this ceiling, we found an exhaust fan motor that wasn’t connected to power, a broken duct (in multiple places) and no diffuser. Definitely not what you want to discover after moving in.

Good thing this property got Checked first 😉

There’s more to a good AC than how cold the room feels 🥶

Airflow, drainage and insulation all play a part in how well the system actually performs. So yes, cold air is nice. It just doesn’t tell you the whole story.

Bubbling, peeling, or blistering paint can sometimes be a visible clue to something happening underneath the surface. The paint itself is not the real problem, then 💦

Ceilings have a habit of hiding things from plain sight 🔦

Small gaps are easy to overlook, especially when everything around the window looks fine.

Just an interesting fact while you're here. Anyway…

And… there they are 👀

🚪 The door: a little wobble, some unsealed gaps around the frame, and a few scratches.

🔎 Window insulation: the joint between the frame and glass wasn’t properly sealed.

⚡ The electrical panel: an earth cable was left unconnected.

❄️ The AC: no U-trap installed on the drain line.

Four small details that are easy to walk past. Much harder to miss when you know where to look.
