The Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) has launched the above call centre to provide proactive, real-time support to road traffic accident (RTA) victims, ensuring faster processing of short-term insurance claims.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a global plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets designed to free the human race from hunger, poverty and oppression. Part of this vision is creating safer transport systems and protecting lives on the road.

In September 2021, the first United Nations (UN) Road Safety Performance Review for the Republic of Zimbabwe evaluated the country’s progress in improving road safety and effective post-crash response. Improving support after accidents is essential to saving lives and reducing long-term harm.

To strengthen post-crash response, the Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) launched a national emergency call centre. By improving emergency response and support for accident victims, the 591 call centre contributes to Zimbabwe’s road safety commitments and supports the broader goals of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

UNITED NATIONS OFFICE ON DRUGS & CRIME (UNODC) GLOBAL AWARENESS-RAISING CAMPAIGN ON THE 2030 AGENDA & THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Every woman and child has the right to live free from violence, exploitation, and abuse. Women and children experience insidious forms of violence, exploitation, and abuse.

It happens in every country, and in the places, women and children should be most protected: their homes, schools, and online. Violence against women and children can be physical, emotional, or sexual.

And in many cases, women and children suffer at the hands of the people they trust. Women and children in humanitarian settings are especially vulnerable.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. The Agenda is made up of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets designed to free the human race from hunger, poverty and oppression.

Galatians 6:7‐9 King James Version (KJV) Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, But the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT & PUBLIC WORKS MINISTER DANIEL GARWE FUMES OVER POOR SERVICE DELIVERY IN BEITBRIDGE

ZANU-PF REGIME Daniel Garwe stated that Beitbridge is a highly strategic city. It serves as a key gateway, linking South Africa to the rest of Africa. It also provides access to Zimbabwe and beyond for international travellers and businesses coming through South Africa.

Its location makes it vital for both inbound and outbound trade. However, the way the local authority is managing the city is deeply troubling. We are grappling with numerous challenges, including a lack of clean water, poor sewage treatment and disposal, and a total absence of solid waste collection.

There are also serious issues of corruption and illegal activities, including unauthorised land deals. Cabals of developers are illegally acquiring land from the council and selling it for profit, turning land barony into a thriving black market. These systemic problems have become the norm in Beitbridge, undermining its potential and strategic importance.

UNITED NATIONS OFFICE ON DRUGS & CRIME (UNODC) GLOBAL AWARENESS-RAISING CAMPAIGN ON THE 2030 AGENDA & THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

THURSDAY 07/08/2025 The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has initiated a road safety campaign aimed at encouraging responsible driving habits and minimising the risk of road traffic accidents during the Heroes and Zimbabwe Defence Forces holidays.

We have realised that over the years, during this period when schools are closing and we have the Heroes and the Defence Forces holiday, people travel on the roads and some tend to ignore the traffic rules and regulations.

Common issues include speeding, overtaking errors, reckless driving, alcohol and drug driving. PSV vehicles tend to overload, and we want to remind them that their passenger today is again their client tomorrow, so they should drive safely.

We are also deeply concerned about the unruly behaviour of pirate taxis, illegal transport operators, unregistered and plate-less vehicles. These vehicles are often used to commit crimes such as robberies, murder, kidnapping, r**e, and other heinous crimes.

This leads to an increase in corruption, extortion, violence, human trafficking, as well as other more sophisticated crimes. These undesirable elements of society can also turn cities, towns and villages into dangerous areas and put citizens’ lives at risk.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. The Agenda is made up of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets designed to free the human race from hunger, poverty and oppression.

UNITED NATIONS OFFICE ON DRUGS & CRIME (UNODC) GLOBAL AWARENESS-RAISING CAMPAIGN ON THE 2030 AGENDA & THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

President of the Second Republic, Emmerson Mnangagwa:

“Let us commit to upholding the legacy of the Great Empire Munhumutapa. The great ruler was a symbol of peace and unity. We reject tribalism and racism. We speak peace. We are masters of our destiny. With singleness of purpose our national vision is possible. Be loyal to your country.”

MONDAY 30/07/2025 Harnessing all resources and effort to sustain peace and enhance national socio-economic development for the attainment of the United Nations Vision 2030.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. The Agenda is made up of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets designed to free the human race from hunger, poverty and oppression.

The goals and targets seek to realise the human rights of all and to achieve gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, while placing particular emphasis on the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable members of society.

The 2030 Agenda seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. We recognise that eradicating poverty in all its forms and dimensions, including extreme poverty, is the greatest global challenge and an indispensable requirement for sustainable development.

All countries and all stakeholders, acting in collaborative partnership, will implement this plan. We are determined to take the bold and transformative steps which are urgently needed to shift the world onto a sustainable and resilient path.

ZIMBABWE REPUBLIC POLICE (ZRP) OPERATION TAME THE TRAFFIC JUNGLE 27/07/2025 PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA HAS CALLED ON THE POLICE TO TAKE DECISIVE ACTION IN ADDRESSING THE ESCALATING TRAFFIC CHAOS

The ZRP is deeply concerned that unregistered and plate-less vehicles are being used to commit crimes such as robbery, murder, kidnapping, r**e, and other heinous crimes.

The police operation targeting unregistered and unlicenced vehicles, operators offering public transport without proper licencing, and those breaching other traffic regulations is still continuing until further notice.

9,289 illegal transport operators, popularly known as “mushika-shika,” have been arrested and fined since the beginning of the year, a government official has reported.

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. The Agenda is made up of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets designed to free the human race from hunger, poverty and oppression.

The annual crash death rate is expected to triple in the next ten years in the absence of concerted action and significantly increased commitment by all stakeholders, warns the United Nations (UN) Road Safety Performance Review of Zimbabwe.

With the second United Nations (UN) Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 underway, Zimbabwe has the opportunity to head in the right direction to achieve the goal of halving road traffic crash fatalities and injuries by 2030.

Estimates by TSCZ research in 2018 showed that the country loses about US$406 million annually from an average 40,000 road traffic accidents every year, and this is estimated to be almost 3% of the gross domestic product; estimated at US$14 billion.

PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA HAS DECLARED A STATE OF DISASTER THE CHITUNGWIZA MANYAME BRIDGE ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT (RTA) THAT KILLED 17 PASSENGERS

WEDNESDAY 23/07/2025

“PRESIDENT Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa” has declared a State of Disaster under Section 27(1) of the Civil Protection Act (Chapter 10.06) following the tragic road traffic accident (RTA) at Hunyani Bridge, Chitungwiza Road, which claimed 17 lives.

The announcement was made by Local Government & Public Works Minister, Daniel Garwe, as he addressed grieving families at a funeral parlour in Chitungwiza. The victims will be accorded state-assisted funerals.

Futhermore, the lorry involved in the road traffic accident (RTA) had COMESA Yellow Card insurance and the commuter omnibus was compliant with the Road Traffic Act Motor Cover and Public Passenger Liability.

The Insurance Council of Zimbabwe (ICZ) immediately activated the insurance cover and contracted a funeral parlour to provide comprehensive funeral and burial services for all the deceased within the borders of Zimbabwe.

The beneficiaries or next of kin of the deceased are advised to contact the ICZ on Toll Free Number “591” for processing of the insurance compensation benefits as provided by the Road Traffic Act. The Call Centre Staff will provide guidance in swiftly accessing the relevant benefits.
